We average nearly 20,000 more than we did 20 years ago. We've never really been a 50k+ sort of club until fairly recently. To fill our ground, we have to get fans from somewhere. Whilst the notion that we price out young people may be true, it's certainly not unique to City. Why is it we have a loud away following? These people can afford to go to home and away matches so I'm not entirely sure there is a correlation between affluence and atmosphere.

I think it's just down to the fact that society has changed and the people who go are absorbed in watching a more technical and better standard of football played on the ground.

Our away support is mainly made up of FOCs ;-) with disposable income. Many FOCs belong to supporter branches and are guaranteed a match ticket and affordable coach travel.

You obviously haven't followed or read the ticket price thread. Numerous people posted they and their kids were priced out of last night's match. City fans who can't get sold out season tickets, but still want to go to the matches.

that is a different situation, having a season ticket and wantingnto bring your kid is anotger situation away from my point

I don't think it is ? if the officials are hell-bent on not giving us anything, then why put yourself in the firing line
I really think teams like united and the so-called elite use the advantage they have with the officials and will do anything to win against us, you see it all the time faking injury or the softest of touches next thing the card out

What fans are being priced out?

(local) Working class City fans with or without kids. Our bread and butter fans. And our future generations of City fans. They can't afford £68 Adult match tickets and £45 junior match tickets.

I can't see an average attendance above 50,000 between 1949 and 2015. Sure, on odd occasions we got big numbers in, but we're consistently more well-supported now than we've ever been.
