Pep’s Spurs (H) Post-Match Interview

Then Pep is losing the plot even more than I feared!

Haaland is sweating for the cause, left it all out there last night and Pep has had six years to insist on getting that left back right.

100% spot on

I have rewatched the game and pep was saying nobody was helping Lewis after the fouls ? sorry pep your wrong, go and watch the city players moaning to the ref about the amount of fouls on Lewis,

the team is working so hard on covering the problem on the left side of the defence and shape, AKE is not a left back and the first goal spurs scored was not just down to Ederson, AKE had the chance to run the ball out or play it up field but instead turned back and played it to the keeper, the problem was spurs players was still in the press and 3 or 4 spurs players closed the gaps on the out ball,

maybe it's the hunger or desire and going again from the players, but believe me the setup is so wrong in defence,
the rest have worked out we have nothing on the left side and bomb down the left at will, it's inviting trouble before we even kick off,

I for one shall remain stoically silent unless and until I get more lasers and smoke cannons.
We also need to see a return of it's a knockout style half time entertainment, how I miss the charm of four middle-aged fatties slipping around on their gazelles...

By the same logic, how will the fans being noisier make any difference to how the team play with 'desire'.

No, I don't btw for what it's worth. Nor am I taking Pep's calling out the fans as literally as some and the media will.

He is right though, about the fan base becoming complacent (he didn't say entitled, others have translated it so).
We had people declaring the league over in January last year, and calling anyone that disagreed all sorts. Even this year, been taking it for granted so long, falling 8 points behind an arsenal who have only lost 1 game in half the season, and it is fine because they'll just collapse and gift us the title as long as we win the odd token game. On the other hand, just writing it off at this point is a form of complacency in itself. There's half a season to play, plenty to fight for, it is neither easy nor impossible. Let's see how the players react now.
I would argue that booing and being noisier in support of the team are two completely different things, and the same logic applied actually highlights that.

And, FWIW, basically every behavioural study ever conducted has shown positive reinforcement is more effective than negative reinforcement.

I hope we don’t go the way of the rags and dippers and start booing the team every time we have bad spell or the team isn’t playing well in a match.

Otherwise some may actually get to see what happens when you do that.

Pep unraveling is my fear mate.

Kind of ironic, we have been treading water most of the season. With some of the most dire performances of the Pep era.

And he loses his shit after the second best 45 minutes of our season. No holding back either, players fault, fans fault....Not his obviously

Last time he started losing his shit it was our fans he started turning on.
Fucking hell.

The fact you got any likes for this drivel is disheartening.

you are spot on mate, but what i do want and pep called it last night is standing up for our younger lads when they are targeted like rico was by that twat hojbjerg yesterday
ferna zabba and vinne wouldn't put up with that shit

We’ve always been weak as piss in that department in years gone by,remember when Keane did Haaland, fuck me we had like Whitley going over and saying why you done that Roy ? Instead of fucking head butting the **** to the floor and trampling on his head,we have got one or two in the ranks now who won’t stand for shit, but as you say those three you mentioned would have been in immediately last night

best time to do it when you win, then there is no sour grapes
we all know we have slacked off and means everyone you, me and including pep
hes galvanising the rank and file as the rag/dipper media waste no time in writing us off undermining us at every turn

Should we positively reinforce the officials moving forward too then?

i think he meant squaring up to the oppos mate, bit of pushing and shoving, finger pointing, see you in the dressing room etc
that's certainly what i want

We have 36,000 season tickets. Most of those will be long standing and enough to make a noise. There are enough fans to make a noise, we just don't do it often enough. Of course we get day trippers who don't know the songs or feel the need to be vocal, they are a minority.

You might be surprised. Walk around the stadium before games and you rarely hear a Manc accent these days.

Most of those 36k season ticket holders will be people like me, going for decades, done their singing or fighting, now take their own kids if they can still afford to, and just want to watch the game and see City hopefully win.

We have thousands of day-trippers, they are picking up the slack this season and filling the seats because the locals have all been priced out.

Never taken my 15-year-old lad to an away day, apart from Wembley finals, he's been going since he was three and have about 10k points each, despite going every week.

It's an away day closed shop of older fans who can afford to go and day trippers who somehow know a shortcut?
