In a weird way the fact that we've had this extended break may well help him reach a decision. We all know he puts so much into his job and that often leads him to having to take a break. Despite his personal grief at least he has had time to give his mind a rest from day to day football matters. If I were a betting man I expect him to extend for a further year.

Does this tell us peps plans?

Juanma Lillo has arrived in Manchester, and in the coming days, #ManCity will make his appointment as assistant coach official. Lillo will be with the club until the summer of 2021. [
@polballus

How would it make sense to give his assistant a contract beyond 2021?

Even if Pep wants to stay, he has to sign his contract first, before any of his staff are extended.

Or else you have the staff on payroll until 2024 and then Pep suddenly decides he does not want to Coach anymore and won't sign the new Contract. Not ideal is it?

It tells us that Pep probably isn't fucking off at the end of this season.

Less patronising at the end please,many people think pep will leave this summer,maybe this says not

Or it tells us that Lillo is a very experienced coach who might be the kind of assistant to take the reigns when Pep leaves and keep things going for a couple of yeara. If in 12 months time Pep extends or we decide not to promote from within and he leaves with Pep, ending his contract early would cost a pittance in the grand scheme of things.

Just as an aside, why do we need 7 assistant managers? We appear to have more assistant managers than forwards!!
No idea myself but most teams have quite a few now, and if somebody as single minded and successful as Pep says we do, then we probably do.
