I think Pep is ready to go,once Mrs pep left with his family i think he had already made up his mind that this was his last season He wants to go back to Barca and take up the reins there ,hence he was alleged to have told Messi to stay there and he persists with Garcia because he will mould him in spain and the lad gets all his experience at our expence and he certainly doesnt look as though he is enjoying his time here, its very sad but i think he has run his course with us and wants out, He was and is the greatest manager we have ever had but all good things come to an end and MCFC will continue
That reads like an interesting conspiracy theory, any quotes to support it, a transcript of the Messi conversation, a tape. Why would any player or manager want to stay with a club whose "fans" push this innuendo and garbage. MCFC will continue despite this crap.

Add to that injury list, Laporte, Ake, Jesus and Aguero again, he has rarely had less than 5/6 senior squad players out injured together at any time this season. If the are not training they are not being coached also playing 2 games a week and the consequent travel time not to mention the health requirement for recovery leaves little time for coaching.
Although I wonder how much training has to do with this. And surely if there are so many injuries why isn’t anything being done about it. I know there is only a certain amount you can do but it’s quite alarming

From my understanding of Pep's personality, he will never leave City when we are doing poorly. But, Pep may not like the idea of Messi joining city. From the day Messi option started, Pep's attitude changed. Pep wants to win things with us, but he does not want Messi to take the credit for it. Unfortunately, for obvious marketing reasons, we need Messi :( But, if I have to chose between Pep and Messi, it's always Pep. I will be more than happy to finish within top 4 and call it a success.

Reading the posts, I honestly feel happy that fans are not in charge of decession making at the top. It needs to be logical, most fans are way too emotional for logical thinking.

pure BS

Why do people even bother writing this crap? What is the point of just inventing this bollocks, how does that contribute to the discussion or help you make a point? We scored 102 goals last season. The third highest scoring side in the history of the premier league.

And then we brought in a new winger to replace Sané who didn't kick a ball in that 102 goal season.

Ah but now the players in attack are shit.
Could it be some live in fantasy land and think the quadruple is now our entitlement year on year. Or maybe some just want to show they know better than anyone in the club. You refer to "discussion", imo too often there is no intention to discuss and any attempt at a reasoned reply or challenging a debatable point made is ignored or met with some mindless crude cutoff. Having read quite a few threads recently it appears that not only are the attackers shit but so are all the players, coaching staff, Soriano, Txiki, Khaldoon etc. and anyone Spanish related. I am waiting for the next step, the "Mansour out and take your money back", thread, it cannot be far away, especially when we are 5 points behind the PL leaders with a game in hand against the only team that can get above 13 points after 6 games, Villa.

What like fixing the injuries ? I'm sure the staff are doing that as best they can.

There is little time for anything with this schedule, it's ridiculous.

Play Saturday, recover Sunday, train and travel Monday, play Tuesday, travel, and recover Wednesday, day off Thursday for those involved, train Friday, play Saturday, rinse and repeat. The players have families who they might like to see. On top of all that players will be carrying more minor knocks, and will likely need treatment in any spare time.

Blame football for this, not Pep, add in stupid pointless international tournaments/friendlies with players travelling, sometimes long haul.

Football is killing itself.

Only talking about now and parts of last season. We put lots of scores on the board in certain games but when it mattered we could not convert and were not clinical enough. 9 defeats says it all. Pep constantly quoted both boxes. Hopefully the defence is now sorted once Laporte is back. The forwards need to find away to score in critical games.

I may be speaking crap as you say. On current form we won’t be hitting those number this season. The lack of chances created and clinical finishing is a big issue.

The only thing I can think is that he gave them a complete bollocking after the Porto game and then told them they had a chance to redeem themselves for West Ham. His selection tomorrow might indicate that his patience has run out with one or two of them (Or alternatively he may choose the same half arsed bunch again)
Mendy, Ake, Aguero, Jesus all injured. Laporte, Stones, Zinchenko, Gundogan very little training or game time in recent weeks, likewise Torres, Delap ineligible, Walker unable to finish 90 minutes. It can only be a patchwork team at best even if the remainder are anywhere near fit. It is unlikely to be balanced because of the condition of key players. So facing these limitations I expect he will put together a team that he thinks can get a good result, as I believe he always does, all he can do then is hope we avoid further injuries, stupid cards, var issues. If by "half arsed" you mean (and I know you don't) the best he can get from the remnants of half a full or near full squad then so be it.

Why are you talking about the attack now when both strikers are out. Obviously if you take the top 2 strikers put of any side their attacknwont be great.

102 goals is 102 goals. You dont score that without being a fantastic attacking unit.

It’s very possible, however I’m not a huge fan of players playing when they’ve stated their desire to leave and it feels as if he is given special treatment because he’s a Barca boy
All the players will leave at some stage whether they have stated it or not, it is a fact of the sport, in the meantime their professionalism and integrity is better judged by the club and not with this "Barca boy" bullshit being peddled by people who know nothing about what's going on at the club.

Yeah sure some will leave, but none right now bar Garcia have publicly stated their desire and intention to leave

Never understood why it matters as long as they are putting in maximum effort in the coaches opinion.
In any case it bugs me if we have players who do want to be here as we may as well develop them further instead of developing someone who we’ll then let go for free

Parts of last season can’t be ignored. We are not clinical enough. This year fair enough maybe I was a bit harsh. The injuries have impacted us. The build up play and lack of creativity is non existent at present. 102 is a fine return but what did we win? League cup. The goals don’t matter if we don’t get 3 points. We came up short far too many times last year and this year well the problems in the team currently are obvious.

Maybe his perceived hangdog demeanor is a combination of a number of things. I find it very hard to agree on the Messi issue because from his interviews and those of people close to him, I think he is genuinely humble and would not put his ego ahead of what is best for the club. He appears to be a very passionate individual, especially on coaching, read about his interactions with Bielsa. He may be down like many of us because of the effect of Covid on his world, the death of his mother, the political situation in Catalonia, concern for his family's health, the continuous loss of players through injury, the lack of time available to spend on the training ground. Having coached myself I believe frustration is one of the worst parts, not just with players, injuries rules, refs or executives but with a period of time when a sequence of results just gets you down, and you know that things that happened outside your control on the pitch, could have gone your way and you could build momentum. Without game by game analysis, make your own judgement, there have been, imho, a string of poor results that were determined by 2/3 key incidents of mainly player error (eg. Raheem misses, Ederson )at either end of the pitch. We beat Real Madrid, then wham a downturn. The Lyon, Leeds, West Ham games looked at calmly imo could have been won, ignore the important 5-2 result but Leicester were not "all over us". We do not have the quadruple team to terrify opponents, we may never see the like again, margins are much finer now. I fully agree that reading the posts, not all, can be a major spirit killer and your final sentences are on the mark.

OK. I agree the goals dont matter if you dont get 3 points.

We have established that goals weren't the problem for a side that scored 102 goals.

So...the problem...was ...

The defence! Which let in far too many goals especially when Laporte was out, and puled on a lot of pressure on the whole side because everyone knew how exposed we were at the back and how we needed to score a couple at least to win.

So we went and bought 2 excellent defenders in the summer to fix that problem, including one who can deputise for Laporte.

Now people just need to be a little patient and give pep a few games to get the best team fit out on the pitch.

100 percent agree about the defence, ake and dias look great and will most certainly improve the team. The attack is also to blame. The way city defend as a team we need the lads up front defending and pressing. The Pep philosophy fails if (a) the forwards are not clinical(b) we don't press as a team from the front. The defence relies on the attack and currently the attack is toothless and we have lazy players not pressing.

It's not all doom and gloom. Laporte and Dias are going to be fantastic. Patience is certainly needed this year and maybe next. The transition from old guard to new is not helped with the bad purchases. Bad luck or is the board responsible?

I still hope Pep signs a new deal and we buy an adequate sergio and fern replacement. Replacing Silva? not sure it is possible.

Not true. Last season David Silva said it was his last season before a ball was kicked, it was, he was selected when fit not punished. Right now, Sergio's contract is up in 2021, he has said on numerous occasions he would like to return to his boyhood club in Argentina, at the end of his contract, not a word of discontent from club or fans, still picked when fit. I don't know if Dave was offered an extension and the club have in recent years stated that Sergio could leave at his chosen time but there is no mention of him being offered an extension at the moment. Now for the deluge of indignation at referring to Legends not extending their contracts, and how they deserved to do what they liked. But Garcia is a 19 year old, and worse, he came from Barcelona, so he can be treated like shit because he also stated he will not sign an extension. Different standards for different players, the worst thing a team sport can have, but some fans demand, because they are offended, that a player signs a contract, fulfills it's terms and states that he will leave at the end of the contract. Is he refusing to train (like Sancho allegedly), is he refusing to honour the remainder of his contract, is he having secret encounters in hotel rooms , disrupting training sessions, being as abusive about some fans as they are about him. If the club don't think so and they are content with the situation then imho he is a City player to be supported until he leaves, without prejudice, bias or rabid inter club tribalism. City first to me does not involve posting hateful comments about City players (not referring to your post)past or still present.

Garcia is utter fucking shite in my opinion. Too small and weak, too slow, doesn't want to be here. If it was up to me I'd have sold him when Barca offered £15m. Don't understand why the club didn't, when you think we let Tosin go for only £2m. I dislike Garcia more and more every game, he's a fucking waste of skin. Stones should play, even Rodri at centre back would be better, at least he'd win some headers.

Can't wait for Laporte to come back.
I agree With all of that.
