Pep Guardiola - 2020/21 Performances

True but his personality was toxic and he wanted Ferguson level control at the club which would have ended with City doing what United did and tailspin as soon as he leaves. He is a club legend but he needed to go. Backing him in 2012 may have prolonged his career here but due to him treating players and staff like shit it was never going to last too long.
There was a lot of exagerrated bullshit thrown about by a number of senior players, staff and media towards the end of Mancini's tenure, the main source of which isn't hard to guess. Mancini had to be shifted because the powers that be fully expected Pep to come to City. Suffice to say that they were well and truly pissed off when Pep decided to go to Bayern rather than City.

You would have to be absolutely crazy to believe that Manuel Pellegrini was ever 'lined up' to take over from Mancini.

Says who? The kit man with the cringey comedy act or players who weren’t good enough for the top level once we got there?

Speak to Kompany, Silva, Aguero, Yaya and they all have nothing but praise for him.

This would be my shortlist. I would love Kompany to come back but still has a lot to prove in management.

Tuchel
Nagelsmann
Flick
Klopp
ten Hag
Zidane
Pochettino
Bielsa
Gallardo
Enrique

Who knows who will be available whenever Pep decides enough is enough in Manchester.
Flavours of the moment

Jesus wept, you are so ignorant. Practically every word of that is nonsense. Love is blind I suppose. For a start if you think the Mancini stories were "bullshit" you've never spoke to someone who was in his squad, backroom team or who managed him. I have. Plenty of them. You also conveniently ignore that the exact same thing has happened during every club job he's ever had, which is why he's been sacked from them all (that's five times).

What actually happened was that Pep had agreed to be our manager at the end of the 2012 season when it looked like it had gone tits up at Easter. Then United imploded, we won it with 93:20 and the club had no choice but to offer him a new contract. There were big disputes about this contract, because City wanted to cover themselves with break/escape clauses. That caused transfer activity to stop. When he eventally signed we'd missed out on most of our big targets.

Pep took a year out to wait for us but wanted a job and took Bayern. He promised us we'd be his next job so we took Pellegrini on and told him absolutely straight that when Pep left Bayern he was coming to City.

These facts have been told to me by a City Director, and most are now in the public domain.

Literally no one was arsed about the idea of Mancini coming back or being better than Pep or whatever until they watched a couple of Italy games at the Euros. Incredibly predictable. That era is over. Let it lie ffs and enjoy it for what it was.

Under Mancini we had our foot on the rags throat too. Now look at the state of our Derby efforts.

So they're pretty similar - Pep's results are better actually.

Funny how the memory can play tricks on you isn't it? Mancini had his foot on United's throat despite losing more than he won, Pep's record is terrible despite winning more than he loses.

There are certain posters on here that have such a big downer on the best manager we've ever had that facts don't matter.
The City scarf and touchline antics mean far more to them than a team winning more trophies than they have in any other period in our history.
Losing the CL just gives them the excuse to call him out forgetting that nobody else came close to putting us in a position to win it in the first place.
He has his issues, he's made his mistakes, some which have proved very costly, but the team, and club itself, are light years ahead of where we were during Mancini reign.

I don't get to his exciting football we're supposed to be playing under Pep. A lot of it is slow, boring possession based shite that ends up going nowhere. We were better and more entertaining under Mancini than we are now no question, with the exception of the centurion season. Under Mancini we had our foot on the rags throat too. Now look at the state of our Derby efforts.
If winning derbys count more than trophies and leagues as having a foot on the throat then maybe . They don’t though so your post is just meaningless.
