If it's as bleedingly obvious as some posters think then why do you think he didn't? To be pig headed, he can't see the bleeding obvious to blue moon posters?Or he had his own good reason, which given his experience and success we should consider ?The initial selection last night was fine, if not a little bit unnecessary to play Gundogan and Mahrez given they had just played 90 mins a few days before.
The intention to win and keep our good performances going was fine.
The intention to give some fringe players/those returning from injury was fine.
What doesn’t make sense, which a lot of people are missing, is why, at 2-0 up with 80 minutes on the clock and 2 subs remaining, couldn’t he have brought one or two of the academy lads on then for a run out?
Literally nothing to lose at that point, the job was done, we were cruising and the first team players that needed minutes had got them under their belt.
That’s where the frustration for many lies. If they aren’t going to get the nod in such opportunistic circumstances, there aren’t going to be many instances in the season where they are.
Yeah, other than conspiracies of bias or exaggerated claims of uninterest in the academy, there's not really been any thought put into this specific element by people who disagree with Pep's approach. Not to say I necessarily think Pep's doing the perfect thing each time, but it's seriously unlikely that there's no method to his madness. If it's as bleedingly obvious as some posters think then why do you think he didn't? As I've posted what seems to have worked out okay for Foden may be his model for introducing others, if so then lets hope it works out with similar results.
Maybe he did have intentions of playing him/them but the game didn't go to plan first halfReally frustrating none of the young lads got in, shouldn't have bothered with taking the likes of Nmecha away from the tranmere game the night before if he had no intention of playing them.
Here’s the thing, we can all question Pep’s decisions and wonder what he’s thinking. When I do it though I always keep and wonder what on earth he’s thinking, I try to keep in mind first he’s a very deep thinker on everything to do with the game, second he does what he thinks is in the team, the clubs, the players best interests probably in that order. Finally he’s much better at this management game than almost anyone else especially me. Oh and apart from the odd occasion he’ll be proved right and I’ll most likely be proved wrong when I doubted him.Yeah, other than conspiracies of bias or exaggerated claims of uninterest in the academy, there's not really been any thought put into this specific element by people who disagree with Pep's approach. In fact, the bolded part could be asked for many of Pep's choices.
