Pep Guardiola - 2022/23

A reactionary sub could easily have imploded in Pep's face. If our overall performance was bad (which for the most part it wasn't) a sub would have been made it would have made more sense. And if Cooper was a tactical genius he should have exploited the left side a lot sooner than he did and would more than likely have got the 3 instead of the luckiest 1 if that was the case.

I never said Cooper was a tactical genius. He adopted a game plan most teams towards the bottom of the table do when they play us. 10 men behind them he ball, hope to stay in the game and try and nick a goal late on.

Our poor finishing kept them in the game. 9 times out of 10 we win the game 3-0 and people are calling out Cooper for being so negative.

It seems as if we will just have the disagree with the substitution issue. IMO, the fact Pep brought Ake on after the goal was to ensure we didn’t concede another. Why make that change if we were playing so well or it wouldn’t have made a difference?

Ake isn’t a player you bring in when trying to score a goal.

Doing a fantastic job under the circumstances.

Financial inquests- came out fighting.

Player problem- shipped him out.

Squad problem- discontent and apathy.

Lb- Ake has improved, also trying Bernie just as he did with Zin. Helps control possession but has weaknesses.

3rd title chase- always going to be hard.

No9- trying to figure it out.

Look at Chelsea!
Arsenal first challenge since 04
United nothing in 10 seasons.
Scousers fell apart again.

He is doing great. Spoiled bastards -:)

I think Pep largely got it right against Forest. We were pulling them apart at will in that first half, but Gundogan, Foden, KDB squandered the final ball so many times.

1 game doesnt matter. what matters is pattern.

Brentford at home (0-1 down, we bring it back 1-1 before HT, then miss chances after chances they score 98th minute winner)
Everton at home (1-0 up, failed to win)
Villa away (1-0 up, failed to win)
Forest away (1-0 up, failed to win)
thats a lot of points wasted a tight title race vs pretty shit teams.
(not long after our games Lampard and Gerrard was fired)

add in losing to Spurs away (ball given away cheaply at the back!), Pool away (Cancelo mega fuck up vs Salah over a long ball!), United away (1-0 up, we failed to win or even earn a point.)

that Soton Carabao loss was also one of our worst game this season.

killing off games, we need to improve in this, otherwise more similar results...

Likewise. A sub would have not made much difference. Especially with Ake being our only player is really comfortable playing left back and we have an important and tough away tie vs RB Leipzig so need to rest him vs Forest. Bernardo for most part did a decent cover job including the game against Arsenal.
That game was at least, probably more important to this jaunt in Germany.

For 86 minutes we were on target with getting 6 points with Bernardo playing LB. Leipzig is the most important (hence giving Ake a break from starting)
