Just got the feeling what ever happens this season I think he be off end of the season hope am wrong

Agreed, been saying it in my mind for a few months,be good to get the CL before he does, but like tonight as bad as we were I won’t lose any sleep, but Saturday I’ll be a little apprehensive

I think he needs a proper squad refresh this summer. Sorta like 2017 summer when we thought it was crazy that Zaba had to leave when he was 31.

Well Gundo, Walker are up there in age.

And Gomez/ Kalvin Philips don't seem to be City players.

If Txiki were having thoughts similar to mine, he'd trigger Lavia's release clause now since Lavia made Kalvin look invisible today.

Pep needs to control the midfield. Without that, there's no joy!

we seem to be having a bit of a transition year which is kind of fair hes trying to find the best way to get the best out of a striker while keeping control. Its normal we played without a 9 for literally 2 years

This is the kind of performance - the whole team not performing, tactics not working or not being followed, general malaise - that would make Pep walk away if it was repeated a few times.

He always says he'll walk away if the players stop responding to him. There better be one hell of response on Saturday because half a dozen matches like that before June and we could be in big trouble.

Just don't get Kelvin Phillips.
Great in a side that avoided relegation but......hmmm

The players let him down, but he also let them down.

He can't be switching things up as often as he does as he did today, like Walker at CB, thinking Gundogan could pair with the new Philips to cover the midfield like Bernie, or not just the personnel but actually changing the system entirely from a previous win.

Pep SHOULD know the players need consistency, if he still doesn't know how he wants us to set up, then that's a problem. All our title winning season had a clear formation and style of play, even with personnel changes, that made us work.

Simply rotating alot isn't bad perse (except maybe defense literally every game), but it's more the extra stuff Pep does that I have an issue with.

I don’t know what I believe really after such an abysmal showing but anyone think Pep knew what he was doing and played who he played with the oncoming schedule in mind? Take a look at the scums fixture list to see my point. They now face the frantic madness we have faced a good few times.
In the strangest of seasons what trophy is easiest to give up on?

There is an issue with some of the squad and pep imo and it is ever so slightly starting to unravel this season
Fuck the squad. They are paid to win football matches. So why don’t they start doing that instead of blaming the manager!

They can unravel themselves out the door if that is their attitude.

That’s my overriding feeling too after the game. I think there’s a number of players that are just mentally not there any more when it comes to working for Pep. I think there’s a larger group of players that are, but I’m worried that there’s just enough players that aren’t responding to Pep to completely fuck us. It feels to me like something way more serious than just some bad performances. We’re unrecognisable.

i feel like hes using the start since the world cup as a pre season (ie the 3 cup games ect) does that make sence hence all the tinkering, playing certain players for example gundo over bernie ect.

It could also just be we are scraping the barrell this season. Weve won it back 2 back and were pushed to the last minute last season. Maybe the players are mentally fatigued? Look how much the dippers have fallen off.

I said exactly the same to my rag mate who was baiting me after the game. Like you say the insane fixture list exacerbated by really tough draws in the FA Cup is daunting enough already without throwing in what could’ve been a two legged semi against the rags.

Some of my best days supporting City have been at Wembley for League Cup finals but as you correctly say that’s the easiest one to give up on and the trophy we’d least like to win this season given a choice.

Put it this way if there were a poll amongst City fans to see which game they’d rather us lose - Soton tonight or the rags on Saturday - it’d be at least 90% Soton.

It certainly won't hurt to not have to fit the remaining league cup fixtures in.

Too many players in a ‘rut’ or bad run of form can’t be coincidental. The manager isn’t getting the best out of them right now and he needs so sort it out ASAP before the league is gone.
