Pep Guardiola - 2022/23

He had a number of options to react to a changing Forest game management . He froze again. 87 minutes to make meaningful subs is an insult.
I find it baffling when most of those players were in the team against Arsenal and you'd also expect most of them, esp KDB, Gundogan, Bernardo, and Haaland to start against Leipzig. I would have expected some of the midfielders to have come off. Can't see KDB being able to do much Wed, three games in 7 days is a lot at his age and at this level of competition.

He's a legend and I wouldn't rather anyone else... but his game management late in matches is shocking at times. Easy to say from the outside, I know, but we lose far too many games that we have no business losing in dreadful fashion.

We didn’t waste possession for more than hour though…

That was one of our best team performances of the season. Pep set them up perfectly, they broke Forest down constantly, and his selection was obviously spot on. First had no chances, the Bernardo LB/box to box midfielder thing worked better than ever.

But the players have to finish the chances.

The problem is that Pep sees his side create chance after chance and limit the opposition to nothing and rightly thinks “this game is going well let’s keep doing this” meanwhile people like you are going “oh my god this is awful wasting possession”.
And that is exactly what I ment by wasting all the possession we had. Part of having possession is creating chances. We did. But we didn’t finish it. We spoiled numerous chances and opportunities. For that we spoiled all the possession we had.

Kdb didn't do much today either.

So the point of possession is creating chances and you admit we created chances.

Pep could have made earlier changes but the problem was it would more than likely put Forest back in the game. The overall performance wasn't an issue at all. It was barring Laporte and Foden's inclusion the same team that beat the league leaders on Wed

Let himself down badly by not using the bench when the game required it.Tired legs and a second Forest wind was always going to present an opportunity.....and he failed to recognise/act.

Today was all on the players. Anyone that blames pep for that needs to give their head a serious fucking wobble.

Should have scored 4 or 5. Should have delivered a clean sheet.

But when we didn't take our chances, he should have acted with some subs/tactics. He was as much to blame as the players imo.

I agree to a certain extent, but if those same players aren’t finishing simple chances maybe a sub like Alvarez would, but give him enough time to do so.

absolute shite. How many chances do his tactics need to make?

Change tactics and make some more chances? The players still have to take them. 100% on the players this one.

why we created 20+ chances it was just the players not converting
The players not converting was a reason to change the players. Alvarez for KDB was an obvious change that could have happened way earlier. Also Mahrez for Foden or Grealish was an option. Or brining on Ake.

It can not be overstated that every blue knew Forest would score. Its in our genes.
