I like Rico, but sorry, he has to be benched as well. Madrid’s attackers are simply too dangerous for him to handle, whether he inverts into midfield or stays in his defensive role. The level of quality and experience they possess would be too much of a challenge for him in a game of this magnitude as we have seen a few days ago. We can’t afford any weak links in a match of this importance, and I genuinely don’t want to see him on the pitch against Madrid.

Vini vs Rico scares me but with Khusanov's pace as cover and Nico's cover from DM, I think it can work.

If Ruben is fit you can play Ruben and Stones in CB with Khusanov at RB or Stones at RB and Khusanov, Ruben or Ake at CB. Idk. There are options if Ake, Ruben are fit to play.

A 244 (diamond)

The only time ive ever seen such a hyper aggressive formation is back in the day when the 442 (diamond) was popular and teams pushed both fullbacks high.

A 433 (false 9) can morph into this as well.

The obvious downside (only weakness) is defending counter attacks.

But because it suits possession based teams, I love that Pep has gone all in on the idea of "I want the ball no matter what".
 
This bad season is on Pep,he is the one who were saying how he doesn't need new players,and he plays players that can't perform any more at high level.

Pep doesn't trust young players, and it's very difficult for any young player to get in team.

Foden had amazing last season playing in middle, this season Pep plays him on different position almost every game, that is not good for him or for team.

Love him for what he has done for us, but seems to be out of ideas now. Lost a lot of assistants over the years and from what i see, we now have a poor number 2 and coaches not at the standard required as nothing has improved this season, fitness levels, injuries, set pieces, attacking, defending, we are a complete mess.
His tactics are outdated now, its about energy, power and pace and that 2nd goal was just such a team playing against a midfield that would be outpaced by a soccer aid team.
 
Same story all season, keeps playing the same players when its glaringly obvious it doesn't work. No idea if it's stubbornness or running oit of ideas but this pathetic how fuck all has changed in months now. Just need to limp our way to top 5 and pray we improve over the summer
 
He coaches out of cowardice and is actually one of the most pragmatic coaches out there. It’s clear as day. I remember Arteta saying the same when he first joined Arsenal.

He’s afraid to let the handbrake loose even though we’ve seen ALL season that we simply can not control games with 2 or more of Gundogan/Bernardo/Kovacic in the middle. The intensity isn’t in their legs anymore and they’ve been OVERWHELMED ALL SEASON. It’s harmed us going forward and defensively and yet, he still persists.

The first half against Brugge is the perfect example. European lives on the line and he went with safe 11 even though we were at HOME. He had no choice to change it with Savinho and we looked like a different team. Even the last game against Newcastle we saw the potential of the side with just Gundogan in and Bernardo/Kovacic benched.

Probably time for Pep to move on.
 
One of the worst performances I can remember in this last ten years. No idea why we havent made a change yet. Love Pep but this is really poor from him and the team.
 
As usual after a CL exit, we're left wondering what would have happened if we played our usual formation
