It not race, its mot age, its not skill, its not speed, irs not hard....The one common thread.... English!!!

Has the English press caught pn to this yet? Or are they saving it for later ;)

In fairness, 3 of those players are finished at the club…

I think one of the more prominent issues facing the main man this coming season, is how he handles the more senior players like Gundogan (assuming he stays) and Bernardo Silva. What makes sense is 30-40 matches with variying minutes, giving the player competing for the place almost the same playing time. This assumes a 1 for 1 competition for a spot in the starting eleven, which is not likely - fringe players would also get some chances probably.

Keeping that experience could be pretty golden if match exposure is carefully monitored. It is also important when bedding in new players. Flogging B.Silva to death with match exposure and overusing Gundogan should be avoided, and hopefully form and performances would be better overall as a result.

That being said; this transfer window together with the christmas one has all the hallmarks of being superb business. Neatly circumventing the marquee signing trap. Players can stay in the team because of performances, not only reputation. Unless they deserve it over time and then mutual trust leads to a good enough payback anyway most likely.

Curious to see how he approaches the CWC and what team he puts out

But worried our signings are Viannas and not Pep's and he'll want to revert to type and his players like he did the 2nd half of the season
He may not trust the new guys, but we need to play the next generation and leave the Bernardos, Gundogans behind eve if they are Pep's reliable go-tos
Fully expect we’ll see a same old same old wednesday with the new guys on the bench.

At least we have kovacic and de bruyne removed from selection so either Rodri or Gonzalez has to start surely? But expect bernardo and gundogan will feature

I think a bunch Here mentioned that players need at least 6-12 months to accommodate to pep‘s tactics? If that’s the case we will see them starting next season too.
( we all know it’s not the case pep just doesn’t trust those players there’s no tactics where someone needs a year)

It shouldn’t take too long, these days to learn pep ball.
Everyone is playing that way
They even tried to play it at soccer aid

It´s a bit position dependent i guess ,but i also don´t think it takes that long to get used to it.

Yes players who have won Premier Leagues, Fa Cups, Champions league and have served the club with distinction will probably have precedence over the new recruits. Those players will have to prove they are good enough to replace them.

We shall enjoy a good fight for top 4/5 then again. Guess the club bought players without knowing if they are good enough

How long does it fucking take to learn to only pass the ball sideways and backwards, avoid counter attacks like the plague and ignore the big amazing striker up front unless you're lumping awful balls into him when he's surrounded by 3 players.

;)

You never know 100% if a new signing will work out. That's just how it is

Exactly, for a multitude of reasons. The style of play, adapting to a new league, how the family settles, change in culture/environment.

So many great players have moved to the Premiership but not every move works out.

We’re in a great position that we still have great players, seasoned internationals like Bernardo/Gundogan still at the club and so the new players can come in and challenge them for their positions.

Well Portugal have just managed to win the Nations League with Bernardo, and he has won every trophy going with us, so yes I don’t think Pep will just discard him. I think he will play a very important role.

As the other post wrote players don’t necessarily adapt and so to replace such good players, the new players will need to prove themselves.
