Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

That stat is misleading.

Since January we lost 5-1 to Arsenal , 1 nil to Forest , 2 nil to Liverpool , drew against the rags. Drew against Brighton , lost 1 nil to palace in the fa cup final, drew nil nil with Southampton. Drew 2-2 with Brentford. We got our shit together at the beginning of April but before that we were average / poor.

our form picked up as we had a settled centre back partnership of Dias and Gvardiol. As soon as Akanji was fit he was put into the starting eleven and Gvardiol was pushed to left back that’s when we started conceding attacks and looked more vulnerable.

Peps his own worst enemy but that overthinking was constant last season even when we got it right he’d change it the next game, 4 nil win against Newcastle we looked good then he changed again and we got beat next game.

Fa cup form saved us, champions league we got battered.

It’s not where you finish in the league then!?

Perspective hey yours is of the chart with entitlement!

If you think a new manager coming in will win half of what pep did you’ll get a shock!
Where did I say that. Open your mind a little. If Pep doesn't turn things back around then what?

Well for me we have to see this season out to see where we are for the following season to actually push to win the title! This season with the new players be hard for us to win the league..

Then we have next 2 years of same shit as last season as he wont be sacked and the pep cult here will be screaming at you look at what hes won

Even in your wildest dreams.. do you think we'll win as much with the next guy as we did with Pep?

I think the answer is easily no unless you're Bayern in a league by itself.

We don't have to win the league but we have to be us...

Speaking of Bayern. I'm about to watch Bayern v. PSG. Guess what? PSG have the same first 11 they had last game, The same 11 that started the CL Final. Bayern swapped out Goretzka for Pavlovic. Imagine,,,best 11, stability, same formation. I know we're in a different place at the present, but there is something to be said for consistency. Look at Pep's Barca, his Bayern, our Centurians. He was never this fickle. Just saying...

Still think that for all Pep's faults last season - without that awful run before Christmas when half the team was injured and but for a worldie from Dean Henderson in the FA Cup final, we were basically good enough for 2nd in the Premier League and probably an FA Cup win. No doubt we'll be better this coming season. Maybe we won't win the league - I think Liverpool look really solid and if Arsenal get a proper #9 they'll be hard to top - but the good vibes will come back. It'll be a bit bumpy by our standards up to the new year while Pep works everything out, but we've got the good vibes back up front (lots of goals in Haaland, Foden, Cherki, Reijnders, Marmoush), a nice partnership forming with Doku and Ait-Nouri, and once Pep works out a system that's a bit tighter at the back we'll be looking alright again.

Ederson
[new RB], Dias, Gvardiol, Ait-Nouri
Rodri, Reijnders
Cherki, Foden, Marmoush
Haaland

Ortega (Bettinelli)
Nunes, Stones, Khusanov, Ake (Akanji, O'Reilly)
Kovacic
Bernardo, Nico G (Gundogan, Lewis)
Savinho, Bobb, Doku

That's enough to finish top four quite comfortably, get some credibility back in Europe, and make a good fist of the two domestic cup competitions. I think we'd be wise to let Akanji and Gundogan go, alongside Grealish and McAtee who are presumably on the way out as well. Everything else can stay how it is. Next summer we'll probably be losing Ederson, Ortega, Bernardo, and Stones, but we can worry about that in 12 months.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, 24-25 was equivalent to the 15-16 season. We finished on roughly the same points, the squad was in a similar state (full of older players, injury issues, a soft centre in bad moments), and a major cycle of the takeover era was coming to an end. 25-26 will be a lot like the 16-17 season imo. Lots of new faces, a bit inconsistent in the league but will come good eventually. The 26-27 season will be worth this, imo.

what do you want then hey? Pep has us finishing top four pushing for all trophies but coming up short, is that acceptable season even though we will all be disappointed?!
What I want is for Pep to stop playing players based on his affection for them and to play and bed in the young hungry fresh new players who we spent a fortune on. And to return to playing better football.

One can only pray Pep would give that first 11 a go...

Probably his toughest job yet ,to get this team back to title winners. I believe he can do it ,but something has to change a lot at the back and the way we defend.

Not sure why there is any debate. Pep will have next season, if things don’t improve he will be gone at the end of next season. If things go well then let’s see where that takes us the season after and beyond.
