Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

I cannot believe the XI he started the game with. Utter disbelief when I saw it. The lack of respect for Leverkusen from him is fucking disgraceful.
If you wanted to give them a team talk it was that team selection - Leverkusens manager sticks that up in the dressing room and simply says "this is how little they respect us"!!
Pep has alot of credit in the bank - he's currently spending it like a degenerate gambler in Vegas though

and who could replace him ?

Andoni Iraola has no track record with big clubs
Fabregas ? he is part owner of Como
Kompany will not leave Bayern yet
Arteta won't come to City
Alonso, maybe, he still need to be fired first
Amorim - he was my first choice before he went to Manure, now he's stock has plumeted
Nagelsmann is a shout, but that depends on how WC will be going
Luis Enrique does not sense to me - older than Pep and won't be long term appointment

i'd back Pep
So we are stuck with him forever then, might as well rename the club. Would any other manager be doing any worse than him over the last 18 months. Throw in the turgid football he has us playing and I don't see what we have to lose by replacing him. It's happening at the end of this season anyway ,people need to get over it and do Whats right for the club. The success we've had under him will never be repeated ,that doesn't mean he remains forever.

Absolutely inexcusable last night... we had the chance to finish the night top of the table and instead Pep decides to embark on yet another ego trip for what? To show the players who's boss? If he felt the need to do that there's clearly more issues than we thought.

It's pretty clear the coaches he appointed in the summer are just another set of yes men because I dont know how anyone could agree with what he did last night.

It's a fucking disgrace how he treated the fans, opposition and competition itself and has left a very bitter taste heading into arguably the most important period of the season.

i think it was shape and positional awareness that was very damaging last night. Leverkusen shut us down from the top of the pitch all the way back to their box, admittedly we made it a bit easier for them but they did it all night. Conversely, they played out from defense to wingers or central midfields very easily and repeatedly, with our lads stood miles off them. Off the ball we were as bad as you see a Pep team.
Yes . No press. And that midfield space was like the Leverkusen CM had walked inside the Tardis. Watching their number five showboating with ease time and again as he danced around our press in their right corner then chipping it up the wing or nonchalantly pinging it across the back was probably the most entertaining part of the evening .

They played through us with ease, and broke our non-existent press virtually every time they tried playing out of the back.

But that’s pretty much the norm now, is it not?

When we try to press a team, we simply can’t and haven’t been able to for a few seasons now, even when we last won the league.

Even though last night was especially bad, the fabled 5 second rule that people used to associate with Guardiola simply doesn’t exist anymore.

Im not pep out. But any of those managers will get us the same results as pep is currently getting us.. any manager worth his salt finishes top 4 with us

This is a stupid argument. Someone will have to replace him sooner or later.

There’s no turning this around with the squad we have sad ending to a wonderful career at city but it’s time he went. Nobody would’ve wanting him to go at the end of 4 in a row but in hindsight that was the best time to go.
Pep had a shocker last night but getting rid!!
Look what happened across town when their most successful manager left.

Yes should have sacked him after four in a row. Tool.

He should have left after we won the CL, job done. The 'four in a row' season was similar to the GPC's 2012/13 season at the swamp... Won the league but the writing was already on the wall due to poor signings, weak squad, and we know how that turned out.

Guardiola has had his day. Time for a change.

Very few of those Pep non-negotiables remain. We don‘t press well. We’re not compact as a team. We don’t have those clear, and clearly drilled, patterns for playing out from the back and through the lines. We don’t put much of a premium on dominating the centre of the pitch (in terms of quality or numbers). We don‘t have attacking players who control the tempo of the game at the top end of the field.
In short, we‘re just not really a Pep team any longer. But nor have we transitioned effectively into something else.

Would Pep have pulled last nights stunt at Barcelona or Bayern? I think we all know not a chance.
So why is it ok to try that bonkers experiment at City? Because there's no one at City for him to answer to.
So i am looking beyond Pep, to the owners, Khaldoon and Mansour. When Pep goes rogue as he has on a more frequent basis recently who pulls him up? Pep is a great coach, but a manager? the set up seems wrong.

kind of weird how even though its only two games, the vibe has completely changed from after that liverpool game. things suddenly seem bleak. team seems very very weak all of a sudden. at the back in particular we're back to scary times.
Liverpool are shit and in free fall in league
