Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

I’m right there with you in terms of expectations going in and how the season could pan out. My only doubt is whether he’s up for it after this season.
He was up for it this season after last season’s omnishambles, so I think he will be. This particular team justneeds to win something to get the collective experience, after which things should be easier.

Love him but tactically the game has moved on. He just keeps playing a no reason high line with a weak defence is stupid.

I’d love to know if he’s outlawed the midfield playing it over the top in behind. Like seriously have you ever seen a team more allergic to pinging a long ball to a forward?

Pass to the winger, pass back, pass to the winger pass back, pass to the winger pass back. Pass to the winger take him on, lose it or whip a cross to the first man. Repeat.

Love Pep to the moon and back but sooner he realises we doesnt have creators centrally as good as his past teams the better.

So one dimensional currently its painful.
Lock down Doku or he has an off game and you’ll basically get a point at least against this team. Sort it

Why we should we do that ? it's not like we have a lightning fast CF or something.

getting Shaw and Dalot on yellow card then never try to go past them. both Semenyo, Doku must have been instructed to pass back rather than take ons. or we are so scared they lose the ball during the take on and results in a counter maybe.

but then many others kept losing it even Rodri, Foden, Lewis, Ake, Cherki etc resulting in huge counter chances. but if its up on the wing its a bigger sin for Pep.

they had more energy, wanted to win more, quicker, jumping into shots to block, cleared quite few headers, than fought hard for all second balls us waiting for the ball to drop front of us while they were sprinting, sliding, jumping for it.
many times Foden, Lewis, Bernardo were attacking with the ball and someone from behind just tackled them and got the ball like zero scanning who is behind to shield the ball.

this isnt tactics. this is sadly mentality. this is the only thing Carrick could achieve in 3-4 days of training and somehow he pumped them up.

they attacked with intention based on a clear plan, we didnt. now thats tactics. even they were surprised probably how much space we allow them for all the counters.

Brilliant tactics at big away games against Forest and Newcastle in a Semi Final.

Tried new tactics away at Arsenal and Real Madrid, rode our luck but it worked out.

Today away at Old Trafford we were really fucked in terms of numbers and he pumped for Rico at right back hoping we would dominate the ball like we have many times in the past. Old Trafford was rocking, new manager bounce and we didn’t have the answers. It’s a bad one.

However I think the squad we are building is going to be very good and I think Pep could get them in good shape for a trophy at some point this season (probably not PL).

Forest are 17th and we scraped a win and in another world Dias gets sent off.

Newcastle away 1st half was fucking hideous. 2nd was better.

Madrid and Arsenal I agree with but that Madrid team were mutinous at the time.

At last, a voice of reason.

And unfortunately United had the manager bounce and they played like they were on cocaine.

Sometimes it’s just against you. Dalot could have got a red today.

Incredible manager and a massive amount of credit in the bank. It's games like this where he tries to re-invent the wheel, unnecessarily. We're probably 3 or 4 trophies short, exactly because of it - but then you could argue we're a lot up, because of it too. Just infuriating when it happens regularly, as defeat is glaringly obvious.

He lost us that. When you face a side that for the last decade have only caused us any problems through their quick direct football for pace merchants upfront and is the same for every other side too, who in their right mind decides to play a high line as close to the halfway as possible, with a single player in it capable of actually recovering? If it was anybody other than Pep, they get massacred for being so naive and stupid.

They couldnt believe their luck. They'll get dicked next week with the same side because Arsenal wont look at them, identify their main and frankly only threat and think let's play in a way that allows them to utilise their one threat easily and regularly.

Had we just dropped the highline bullshit and changed nothing else, we at least dont lose that today despite being utterly woeful.
