Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

It's mainly fatigue for me, but lets be honest here, we weren't good in the first half either.
We seem to be the most fatigued team in the world, never known any team go from getting match fit to knackered so quickly, I must have been working during the game when we werent either.
Every fucker is getting match fit, then playing too much, then has a knock, then getting back up to speed, then injured, then getting match fit, then playing too much. Then bad form, then mentally not right.
Peak city player - 4 times a year at 1520.

If picked :-)

So you win 100 points, a treble, 4 titles in a row, all in the space of 8 seasons
Then you have 2 seasons where you are supposedly in transition, don’t win it but finish in the CL spots, and you think he should be sacked?

There are people on here who have turned into the worst Madrid fans.

If they don't win everything then the manager needs sacking.

Its a lazy excuse. “Haalands knackered, rodri not match fit, NOR had played too much”

Its easy to throw that about as an excuse

On 2nd February in 2016, I wrote the below. I can't think what I'd write when Pep calls it a day. He's earned his blip. 2nd in league and trailing by 6 points. A semi and fighting for Cash League and FA Cup. No crisis.

"In the years since 1971 Pellegrini is totally unrivaled at this club in terms of achievements and win ratios and potentially could achieve much much more. Long may we celebrate his name at our club. In my lifetime, I've enjoyed watching football under Sven-Göran Eriksson, Kevin Keegan, Joe Royle, Brian Horton and Peter Reid for totally different reasons to today. For me the stewardships of Stuart Pearce, Mark Hughes, Frank Clark, Alan Ball, were in a way like Phil Neal, Asa Hartford, Tony Book and Brian Kidd, just caretakers tiding us over.

Credit has to go to Hughes for solidifying a squad in decline, adding depth and bringing in some foundations. Roberto Mancini took us to the next level, he made us competive again and gave us belief not found at the club previously for far too long. Sadly his tactics were sussed too soon. Then stepped in Manuel Pellegrini who in the world's most competitive lead added attacking football, strengthened a strong inherited squad and ensured City could compete season after season. He also lowered the squad's average age. He wanted to extend for one year and City had their eyes previously on someone more longterm. People have suggested he was minding the shop whilst Pep Guardiola became available. That might be so. I think as The Engineer departs, his successor will see he has to do very little, just reinforce and blend in some of our youth and other young players. Pellegrini won't be remembered just for stats, that is for sure. He has done a great job and has the chance to add silverware still."

he’s acting like he’s doing us a favour being here, what was this stuff on Friday all about, any other football managers jetting across Europe to take part in a rally?

He said he would be here till the 115 came out, so either it’s gone badly and he’s so disinterested as he tries to rebuild his image and damage control the fall out or it’s gone well and now he is looking forward to walking away at the end of the year with his reputation intact.

I’ve never seen someone look so disinterested during games, just sat on the bench staring into space half the time. Kolo and Pep L are the ones barking orders.

For me it's not about crying cos we ain't winning silverware.
The bigger picture is the state of the football.

Worst it's been since Pep. And not just a few games. We've played unattractive, boring football now for nigh on 2 seasons. I'm not watching a team that is going to put teams to tbe sword or go on a 5/6 game winning run anymore.

We are so vulnerable in defence as a whole team. As soon as the opposition smells blood againt us, we concede.

Ok lets just keep on keeping on, we've won trophies in the past and he's a very nice man.
Nothing to see here. Don't worry about trajectory and repetitive issues.

Many are quite right - success isn't everything and Im sure most of us would settle back into being mid table (and lower) match goers and the fun and humour that comes with that. The thing is, the club and owners clearly can't have that - we're a different animal now and it is totally reliant on success. So yes, spoilt, entitled etc etc but the present owners, investors and infrastructure is dependent upon it. Dont think one or two at the club will be as blasé as some on here.

If Pep were to leave at the end of the season, I think almost every club in the world would want him as their manager. If any didn’t, it would likely be for reasons unrelated to football.

I don’t have the stats to back it up, but going on recent history, when a club replaces a long-serving, successful manager, there’s usually a high risk of entering a period of decline. Of course, he’ll have to be replaced eventually, but I’d prefer he be given both the time and the freedom either to fall short or, ideally, to rebuild and succeed again. Judging his ability to return the team to its previous level just 12 months into a rebuild doesn’t seem like enough time to me to make that call.

The very best of all time but his stubbornness drives me crazy. Spent his post match complaining about their first goal. I mean we were good for the first 20/25 mins, maybe he can explain why we’re so shit after that and potentially what Haaland has on him to be allowed to play another full 90.

Played the team everyone wanted again.

Made the subs early like everyone wanted.

We dropped off second half, no doubt about that but the blaming Pep is ridiculous
He didn’t make the subs early. Nor did he make the right subs. He made the subs after it became 2-1 and brought on the wrong player in Reijnders and didn’t pull off Haaland. He made subs for the sake of it and hoped they would come off.
