Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

They’re divorced.
Sat with his daughter v Liverpool and talked about it in his press conference how she has supported him after the separation.
Was at the Caraboa Cup in the crowd so didn’t see the footage.
Hope I’m wrong but think it’s correct.
I don’t do social media, watch TV much or read newspapers so could easily be wrong, but I seem to recall my kids (grown up) telling me that was the case.
I’m a FOC so could be completely wrong!
Yep. It was his daughter

Has successfully rebuilt the team in about 15 months. The last few weeks we've looked like any of Pep's title winning sides. He looks so relaxed it's scary when you consider that he's potentially got a domestic treble to be playing for in the last month or so of the season.

This isn't an I told you so, but I hope all those people who spent so long talking about how he had lost his hunger, was entering his Wenger phase, wasn't tactically smart enough, couldn't inspire the players, had been left behind, all reflect on why it's probably not smart to write off the greatest manager of all time after one bad season.

His daughter and him seem very close and if she is around a lot it may be giving Pep some contentment in his personal life which I think is now being reflected in his management of late

Got to admit, I was doubting his longevity a few months ago - tactics looked outdated and he looked disinterested.

Amazing turnaround helped by brilliant recruitment in January from Viana. The players brought in elevated the side and its mentality.

Excellent post mate.

This is a young side, and we’re very much in the middle of a rebuild after losing so many of the legends of the centurions, 2x trebles and four in a row team.

And things don’t necessarily follow a linear, smooth development path when you’re rebuilding - the team confidence Pep talks about isn’t fully established yet, and when things don’t go according to plan (which is inevitable in a young team), that confidence can be more easily unsettled.

You can see the team spirit and belief growing before your eyes at the moment, and the experience they’re going through together right now is exactly the kind of experience they need to build a strong core belief that they can beat any team on any day, and prevail even in the most unlikely of circumstances.

We may not win the the league this season - and we may not win the Cup - but we’re witnessing Pep build our next great team, who will do all those things and so much more over the next few years.

There’s no-one I’d rather be in charge of this rebuild than the greatest Club Manager there’s ever been.

There's a seemingly real reluctance to give credit to Pep this season. Not just here, but in the wider mainstream media too. Arsenal have spent years building this squad, and this was considered "peak" for them. At the start of the season nobody gave us a chance because the perceived wisdom was that Arsenal (and Liverpool) had better, deeper, squads. The conversation was that City would do well to challenge for a CL place.

If all that's true, then how is Pep not the headline this morning?

Spot on mate.

The credit Arteta gets for spending more money than City on a team that’s won a single FA Cup in his seven years, and is faltering badly when it matters most whilst supposedly at its peak - whilst Pep comparatively goes under the radar in building the next great City team, and seeing them start to deliver way ahead of anyone’s schedule - tells you all you need to know about our craven, client-journalist infested sports media in this country.

And I think every genuine City fan, who still holds something of that underdog spirit deep within them after all those years of calamity, misfortune and disorder, probably prefers it that way.

Let the media fawn all over Arteta and Slot’s masterful squad assembly, tactical innovations (neatly borrowed from 2000s Allardyce/Pulis) and unique man management qualities, and pile all the pressure on them.

We all know where the trophies are heading in the end.
