Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Wouldn’t it be great if Pep changed his mind last min and extended again?

Khaldoon is probably preoccupied with the Middle East Abu Dhabi problems to give pep the ahhh one more year speech.

I’m actually glad @Ric has posted the information as it gives us all time to digest before it breaks mainstream. Rather have the info from a blue as apposed to laughing rags or dips predicting our downfall.

I wonder if Pep needs a few months off to recover and Maresca keeps the seat warm so to speak since's trusted by both the club and the players and his system is almost identical.

To add the noise, was told a long time ago by someone I trust who works in football that Maresca was already lined up post Pep. Didn't know when it was happening, but it's defo Maresca.

There was always going to be a drop off in quality when Pep left but for whatever the reasons are, this feels a bigger drop than it should be.

Would Pep really walk away if the club still had no idea about the results of the 115 case?

You'd think based on everything he's said previously, and the fact that he still has another year on his deal, that he wouldn't be going unless he was sure we weren't going to be found guilty.

If Pep is really leaving, when will they actually announce it?.There are only 3 weeks of the season left.Do they leave it until the last day?.That won't give us anytime to give him a proper send off.

Yeah, he literally says that going out of the Champions League against Madrid will provide "good learnings for me, for next season."

If he's made his mind up to go, it's bizarre.
Also said similar stuff to that in recent months. He may be bluffing by trying to keep the attention away from him leaving. He may want all the focus being on the players performances, not Pep leaving.

Or this rumour he’s going is bullshit.

Post 10pm quotes don't sound like a manager about to leave.
Yep - just wached the embargo presser, he was in great spirits, and if taken in isolation the only conclusion is he is staying.

But he wasn't asked about the recent speculation and /or his future which suggests to me the journos were told beforehand not to ask any speciifc questions about him leaving. And that is suspicious and maybe as said above it is to concentrate on the players and job in hand without the inevitable media frenzy if he is on his way now.

Yea I noticed that. He said a lot of positive things about the whole organisation. Mentioned the players leaving and what Laporte said. I don’t know. It’s staged managed so who knows if questions were not allowed or it’s simply not true and he intends to stay. I don’t understand some of the quotes which pertain to his happiness and energy at the club but maybe it’s all just a way to avoid the inevitable questions at a critical stage in the season. My heads fried trying to figure it out. We don’t have all the facts and that’s the problem.

I’ve just watched the presser and he really does not look or sound like a guy about to leave but we already know he loves the club and has pride in it. He could be going out of his way to show it, and he could be more relaxed because the pressure of managing City has been lifted.

All we know for sure is that we will find out one way or another soon enough.

I was just thinking about how Pep is with the media generally. He absolutely loves sarcasm and being playful with the Media. I feel hes even ramped that up recently. Yet with all these relentless rumours about him leaving, he's never come out with any sarcastic quips as far as I'm aware. It might sound like a little thing but if it wasn't true I think he'd be having loads of fun taking the piss out of the media for it.

i wrote a coupe of weeks ago about my hunch, pep imo was going to leave last season, however he would of been leaving us we the squad short, now he can see the squad is getting to where it should be(not quite there imo) he can hand it over, the exact opposite to slur alex, lessons have been learnt what can happen to a club if the succession planning isnt in place, imo it shows he cares and loves the club, but again imo he is ready to move on.

Maresca by all accounts is a very good coach, chelsea players were pissed off about him leaving, hell have more input into the squad something that he didnt have at chelsea.
Chelsea's environment is chaotic. I speak to several of their fans and they are pretty unanimous in their condemnation of the 'behind the scenes' stuff. Anyone judging Maresca should be looking at his performance with us, his relationship with Pep and the board, and his achievements with Chelsea against this backdrop.
He isn't the big name that many might hope for, but this is not a normal job in the sense of taking over from Pep and all that he has achieved. Continuity is key, IMO, which means that you want someone who gets what the whole club have been installing for more than a decade. You bring in a big name who wants to put their own stamp on things and those players who have such a regard for Pep could really see their noses out of joint. It's not a player-power thing, but a leadership thing, a devotion to doing things a certain way that permeates the whole club and has brought unparalleled success.
