Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Brilliant, where did you find this ?
"To mark Pep Guardiola's decade at the club, Manchester City commissioned artist Neil Jamieson to create a stunning celebratory mosaic featuring the manager, iconic club legends, and the entire current squad. Notably, it also includes Liverpool's former manager Jürgen Klopp embracing Pep as a unique tribute to their fierce, era-defining rivalry"

I think Pep's greatest achievement was the 4 in a row which took City to double digits of leagues won!

That's the very definition of a big club -- 10 league titles means we dominated an entire decade worth of football history in England!

And don't forget Everton have been stuck on 9 for 40 years now!

Fuck Everton, they go in the same bracket as their city rivals for me now

There's a biz jet due to depart Manchester this morning around 10.45...............to Barcelona, I'd be surprised if it wasn't Pep and his kids going.

There is a live stream from the airport on Youtube on Tuesday, I will watch it and if it does taxi from the private terminal I'll be convinced it's him.

Once I see it climb into the sky and away that'll be the confirmation and reality that he's gone.....then I can draw a line and look forward to see what moves the club makes before this money making bullshit WC gets into gear.

I've not been able to articulate a long rambling post (tried a couple of times but ends up a bit dippery).

I'll just say thank you so so much Pep not only a fantastic manager, a bloke I'd happily go for a pint with too.

We've all had a fucking ball in the Pep years.

Ready for the next rollercoaster lads.....you know the drill.... Scream if you want to go faster.

I would love for him to win a euros/copa America and World Cup. Don’t even care which country.

If the FAs weren’t so stupid we’d probably have Zidane’s France vs Pep’s Spain vs Klopps Germany vs Ancelottis Brazil in 2030.
I think he’ll do international management but would be surprised if it was for Spain, he’s all for Catalonian independence and has spoken out against Spain consistently, hates them.

I was in Barcelona once when there was a protest and strike for independence and saw the Spanish police drag Catalonian politicians out of government buildings. The Spanish didn’t recognise their independence that they’d voted for and moved with force against any staunchly in favour of it.

Barely any of it got reported. The locals were imploring me to tell the world about what was happening but I was about 10 pints deep on a lads holiday and a younger man, wary of the Spanish police.

This is just not true. He's said a few times over his time here the issue with him and Spain is not that he wouldn't take the job (he did play for Spain for 10 years) but that because of his position on Catalonia they won't offer it to him.

Pedro Sanchez in particular (the PM) does not like Guardiola's Catalan independence stuff, and the Spainish National team is quite political and managed by the CSD (government deparment for Sport).

Fair enough mate, you know more than me.

Can’t find any quotes saying he’d like to manage Spain, moreover like you say just that it ‘isn’t going to happen’.

Feel like that’s broadly the same thing anyway no? Unless he says otherwise that he’d like to manage them.

But yeah agree I was possibly a bit too strong in my recollections without a quick google into what he’s actually said about it.

Well if he was on that plane he's now back in Barcelona, I'll let it go from my mind eventually but still raw at present, I mean I know he said the reasons are not important, but do people think it was pressure / ultimatum off his Mrs.

Just as others have said seems peculiar how fast it happened, truth is I'm still in shock, not so much him leaving but the quickness of it from a Monday night leak to be game over in a week, weird

Reading his daughters post it sounds like he is retiring for good.

Having read a handful of books about him, it feels like he has nothing else to do as a manager.

He had major success at his boyhood club.

He implemented his philosophy successfully in another country at a major club.

He transformed a top club into a dynasty in his own vision.

The World Cup is a fun bucket list exercise for him but he can't do what he does well at international level. There just isn't the time and opportunity to imprint his style on a team like that.

No,he's divorced, bought his own house in Barcelona. His ex at this point has no say over his decisions.I think the collapse we had last season made him feel he was running out of ideas a bit and that it was time to leave. He's clearly known for quite a while he was leaving,Maresca was linked to City in October.

Yea I read he'd more or less made his mind up in March during international break, didn't know he was officially divorced, although a reconciliation on the cards apparently that's what prompted me to ask that.

Still bloody quick though no matter how it's dressed up, leaked Monday gone Sunday, I find that strange I really do, good job I'm not a conspiracist

To be honest, I think the reason Maresca has not taken any job since he left Chelsea is because our owners & Pep had set the date for the end of this season & Moresca was always the planned replacement. So it’s been a well kept secret for a long time which is why Pep was getting pissed off being asked about his contract every press conference- he knew he was going but it was not to be released.

Our club is well organised & succession planning is second to none.

All true. I lived in Madrid for a couple of years and had no idea about how politically fractured the country is. Catalans and Basques see the Spanish national team as a construct and representation of Franco’s Madrid and more or less refuse to acknowledge or recognise it. I was genuinely surprised by the level of contempt that both Catalans and Basques hold towards Madrid but when you read about how Franco suppressed them then you begin to understand. Pep will have been brought up with these stories and he’ll never forget.

Yea we are, but seems cloak and dagger to me, I mean he played them at their own game during all pressers, but they won in the end, or should I say Holt did
