Pep Guardiola

Rumbles of mourinho available in summer, although we've heard it all before. Could be a very interesting summer.

Seeing as we are all putting our backsides on the line, I'm going to go with pep to Chelsea in the next few weeks. Surely even roman wouldn't be stupid enough to sack dm without a replacement lined up.

I'm wondering if Mancini could be a very relieved man in the next few weeks.
My guess is he is hoping a change of manager can give them a big lift, like they got last year when they sacked AVB. I think they will get someone to cover until the summer when Jose or Pep are possible.
I would think Jose would be my summer favourite. I think he is the best manager in the world and both sides know what they are taking on.
Jose would probably prefer to live in London and he has emotional ties to Chelsea.

Benitez to Chelsea short term. Roman go all out to convince Pep to come for new season. One part of me thinks Abramovich is shooting himself in the foot with all this with the "who in their right mind would work for someone like that" argument, but then again, I'm sure a hefty pay off at the end of it helps. I'm sure Di Matteo won't be crying into his cornflakes if he looks at his bank account come the end of the month.

Graham Hunter saying that Roman couldnt convince Guardiola to go in the summer so how is he going to convince him now? Major cash thats how. Will be interesting to see what happens.

What does make me smile are those who try and play down Guardiola's achievements with Barca, stating his success is all down to his great players.

But when others suggest the same re Bobby, you are lambasted for it.

Can't have it both ways.

Mancini had never managed outside of Italy before he came to us.

Guardiola is clearly a superior manager in terms of the definition of trophies he has won.

That's all you can judge any manager on.

Del Bosque is one of football's greatest-ever, but he stuck it out in Spain, didn't do too bad.

I dont see Pep motivated by "major cash," He's taking an unpaid year off in the prime of his career. IMO he is more a man of principle. I think it is more likely Pep will go to Arsenal, (as BillyShears has suggested), or the rags.

I take your point mate, but really Messi, Iniesta, Xavi are more than just great players are they.

-- Wed Nov 21, 2012 11:03 am --

It also make's me smile when people dissregard the fact Rijkaard left him a team of champion's. He also took control if a stable and club that had all the right people in place...

It also fails to take into account that he built his team around three players that Rikaard can be credited with bringing to the peak of the game.. Xavi, Inesta, Messi. He got very lucky, a once in a lifetime deal, just like bacon chops dwn the road.

To say he is poor is wrong, but to say he alone is the foundation of those achivements is way off the mark. That point is the one above all he will be required to do at Chelsea

Will be interested to see how this impacts the Falcao transfer.

If he moves in January, I would assume Chelsea have stacked the deck for Pep.

If he stays put, I think Pep will keep his jets cool and wait to see what happens at City, before taking Falcao wherever.

There is some chatter today that the appointment of Benitiez could even be announced as a longer-term thing.

Benitez is in Abu Dhabi at the moment. My biggest fear is that he has coveted the City job for a very long time.

If he is 'worded up' that Mancini will be sacked next summer, and we have no chance of either Pep or Jose, we get the fat waiter.

Not according to the rumours
Grey and keys and paul maccarthy have said he is on a plane to london
And 100% verified

I hope we dont get Benitez.
I think Falcao will, like Hazard, go to Chelsea regardless of the manager.

Rijkaard did not bring Messi to the peak of his game. He left a Barca team short on discipline, overweight, and ego-driven.

It's certainly laughable to suggest Ferguson got lucky with his crop of youngsters, he had nurtured them for years before blooding them, integrating them one by one.

Explain to me how Ferguson also got lucky at Aberdeen?

Messi became the superstar he is because of his natural talent being realised by Pep.

Messi was skilfully allowed to go to the Youth World Cup by Pep, something which became the catalyst for their bond and his form.

He employed a different playing style than Rijkaard, who was more off-the-cuff.

Lot of "ifs" there, Tolm. I'm now hearing Benitez to Chelsea too. I'd be happy with that for many reasons, not least it leaving City the cream of the crop to go at should a change be made. Benitez isn't as bad as he's made out to be by some but he isn't right for us.

I just had it on in the background and they were just saying he was 100% in the air from abu dhabi... and had cancelled a major event he was hosting and heading for london
Mccarthy was was saying he expects rafa to be the next manager

Who knows though even twitcher has been backed off the boards to 2nd fav in the last hour.

Mancini will not get sacked no matter what.

Stupid to think he should.

That is my two penneth on the subject.

Ah right, I see the confusion. My original post was with regards Benitez taking the Chelsea job as a win-win, because he knows City could then be available to him next summer.

Bloody hope not.

Quite so.

I hope Pep waits to see how the land lies at the season's end: if, for whatever reason, Mancini leaves then, Pep is the man I'd most want to replace him.
