Allowing current managers to be involved in choosing new ones has a proven track record of failure. Look no further than the swamp for categoric evidenceIf the club think that Maresca is the right man then so be it? Pep will most certainly be involved and recommending who follows him?

My wife used to be on the board of Sport England, so at the time Moyes was in charge she knew a few senior people at United. The view there was that the players did him in. They thought he wasn’t a good enough manager for their giant egos so they didn’t play for him. They also said Rooney was a big problem, and that had Ferguson not quit so suddenly, Rooney would have been toast.That happened once mate? Can believe that as well mate. Moyes and i`m sure the players themselves confirmed that deals were agreed for Bale and Fabregas to go to the rags under Moyes and then the club backed out suddenly and then were scrambling around on deadline day getting the likes of Felliani and Mata!

Not really. His qualification was the football his team played, his demeanour, and use of less recognised players.

Vinny done well in the championship but then struggled in the premier league and went to Bayern who let’s be honest have arguably the best squad in world football!?! Obviously you have to manage the personalities and egos but it’s a dream job isn’t it?
