Pep to leave at the end of the season

I think Alonso is still a gamble! Let’s see how he does next season! If he thinks playing the pep way will be easy when teams now in premier are good at parking the bus do you in transition

I guess as fans we don’t know but the Execs at City have had the chance to have a good long look at Maresca when he worked for us - so it’s a fairly informed decision if he does ultimately succeed Pep. Whereas Chelsea will know next to nothing about Alonso in the scheme of things - hence it’s a huge gamble.

Is playing style more important than getting the better manager out there ? Alonso is probably the only available elite manager and has the charisma to go with.
Does he have a lot of charisma? Have you heard him speak much? (I haven’t)

Got to admit, I’d be slightly sickened if the club knew Pep was going and have chosen Maresca but let Alonso go to Chelsea.

My best guess would be that they don’t want major change and Maresca being ex-City will be a smoother transition. But stinks of a safety move rather than a gutsy one.
Alonso is a tier below what we need.

What he did at Leverkusen was impressive but they also got incredibly lucky that season. For me at least he’s not on the level.

I'm going to try and organise some of my neurotic thoughts regarding this situation.

We know that Pep planned to leave at the end of the 24-25 season. How could he stay after Txiki leaves? We then know he ended up extending for 2 years, which reportedly surprised many close to him.

We know that Pep has always seen out contracts, however, he has never spent more than 4 seasons at any other club.

The club reportedly insists it is business as usual and that Pep is expected to be in charge next season. Does that mean anything? I don't think so.

Why does Pep continue to pedal the "I have a contract" line? Is he avoiding the question or is he reinforcing his principles? He did answer "Yeah" to the question of being here next season but the further response when being asked to clarify was a little weird. Is he taking the piss out of d list journos?

We know that several sources within the first team have stated they expect him to leave and an announcement is imminent. They are of the belief this decision was made some time ago. My question to this is how many would actually know? As mentioned at the start, few seemed to be aware that Pep was signing an extension in 24. They also suggest that the backroom will be turned over some. Could that just be Viana though?

We know that the players, at least judging by public statements, don't know. I don't know what to think.

We know the club has organised plans with Maresca. I don't think that says anything. Great clubs do that.

Why would he want to leave? He's getting paid a packet, he's energised, and according to Sam Lee, has fallen in love with the team.

So many questions?

IF Pep was leaving, his replacement would've been announced already, wouldn't it.

Just like when he replaced the Charming Man. Do you think Khaldoon leaves it to chance, and be thinking let's see what happens if he leaves?

The rest is absolute bollocks from the City hating media ziononces.
Comparing apple to oranges. Pep and city is a different beast to when the charming man was in charge.

We will all be mightily relieved if he stays and we will all need a city comfort blanket it he does indeed leave.

Getting in another manager will be a huge adjustment. Doesn’t matter who he is or what the clubs knows about said person. It still might not work. You can plan and do everything right but it still goes wrong.

This city period will be remembered for eternity under pep. However, we must adjust or be left behind. I do trust khaldoon and the club implicitly. Serious players with serious intention. The future is gonna be brilliant either way.

It is not two fruits, it is the club manager.

It is strategic planning which the club abounds on it, and that includes succession plans with little to no disruptions.

Besides, everytime Pep's been asked by the brainless rent-a-quotes if he's leaving he said "I have a contract and I'm honouring it" from the very first time, thousand times later he's tired of it and playful with the cunts.

When he's leaving, it'll be announced with months of anticipation.

Well there's reports that Maresca has the job. Just a matter of when he comes in.

Personal opinion is that it's hard to make plans when you dont know if Pep's staying or not. Maresca's probably happy to wait, Alonso obviously isnt. At least with Maresca it seems that if Pep springs an exit on us then Maresca will step in almost immediately.

I think that’s true as well. Normally I would be against a Manager still deciding what he pleases keeping everyone around uncertain.
But It’s Pep and he gets to do whatever he wants to do.

In light of that he is in/ he is out conundrum we become a bit meh prospect for Alonso or Enrique. They would prefer clear cut answers and won’t wait for any club. Hence Chelsea getting Alonso and we making Maresca wait until the great man decide what he wants.

I've no idea whether Pep will be at City after this season, but if he does leave, would he consider being manager at Girona? They are part of the City Group and he'd be living closer to his family etc.
