Pep to leave at the end of the season

Those quotes/leaks via his camp a week or 2 ago, about his next potential move, were irritating to me.

I have no idea whether his camp leaked the Pep going news, surely he/they wouldn't be the callous and naive to throw his mate and future employer under the bus?

Although I will admit that the fact that Maresca left in 2023 after 1 year of assistant coach, when Pep and the club had given him the opportunity to return to this privileged role after he left the club previously from his EDS role, didn't sit completely right with me. The fact is he's jumped ship twice from City, so something seems a little off with him for me.
Don't be silly. Nobody is going to go back to a relatively lesser role if they have the chance to manage a major club, no doubt with a significantly higher salary too.

What it does prove is how highly the club rate him and that's good enough for me.

Speaking to my son this morning and he mentioned Tom Brady retiring until it got leaked by journalists and he changed his mind to do 1 more year.A story Pep will be well aware of :)

You’re spot on! Something I’ve been pondering since the initial leak has sparked all the Pep speculation, which has really taken off since Holt’s article on Monday. Sam Lee has been convinced that Pep is planning to leave for months, which he’s hinted at in the LMT podcast. When asked on the LMT Discord why he hasn’t published anything, he agreed with me that although the club is as tight as a drum, it didn’t apply here, and he replied he couldn’t say why.

My take is that Holt and the Mail decided to go with it, perhaps to throw City off track, he mentioned that the sponsors were informed, which seems believable, I think this is a cover-up, that aligns with how Pep spoke last night about discussing Khaldoon first before they decide. There’s absolutely no chance the club is talking to sponsors, and Khaldoon doesn’t know.

To sum up, no decision has been made, all along Pep has been truthful, he has a contract and that’s all there is to it. The rest is just rumour and speculation, fuelled by Maresca and that could very much backfire
Of all the theories out there, I find that, in particular that Maresca has leaked this, the least likely one.

If Pep was to mentor Maresca then he'd be in charge.

I always thought that a position at CFG level could give Guardiola the opportunity to provide a new manager (or any promising manager in the Group) with the relationship he had with Cruiyff at Barcelona. A pillar of support rather than day to day interference. Maybe a Board appointment? God knows the Board needs some football expertise.

I adore Pep and would love him to do a bacon face and change his mind about staying however some of the football we have played has been really turgid and slow over the last 2 seasons.
True we have won 2 cups this season and finished 2nd but we can be so much better.
If he stays I would be delighted, however I think he is done
Everything points to him going. Another vintage Pep season would be superb but obviously there's no guarantees of that if he stayed. If the new guy does come in, let's reinforce the team with the best available for what we need. The future looks bright regardless.

If Pep does decide to call it a day, up to yesterday I was happy with the idea of Maresca taking over from him, at least in the short term - after all he knows the way the Club works very well, and did quite well with Chelsea at the WCC and in the CL group stage.
But last night I started to feel uneasy, because City Xtra reported that he wanted to meet up with the players next week, which felt to me like he was in a hurry to get his foot through the door - when most players would want to get away after the Parade/Celebrations on Monday and have a short break before they join their World Cup squads.
And then I read the Tolmie post this morning about the constant leaking from the Maresca camp.
The club has to get to the bottom of it, because the leak came the day before a really important game for us, and was bound to affect Pep & the team emotionally. We couldn't have a new manager who had been any part of such a thing IMO.
Certainly wouldn't take what Tolmie says as gospel.

I totally agree we're on our way back. Some sensitive people have jumped on one flippant sentence from a much longer post and reposted in isolation. My view is its been an amazing 10 years, it wont be repeated and im excited by the makings of our young squad. Im looking forward to new ideas and new energy to push this young squad into a new succesful era.

If Pep and the club have been planning to leave at the end of the season then we should carry on with that plan. Changing tack cos a story came out like 3 days earlier than planned is reactive and very un-city
Nothing to do with us being "sensitive people", you QUITE LITERALLY said that we were crap in the league, a team that have only lost one this year and are otherwise unbeaten, finished second and won two major trophies.

Mmmm got Slur Alex vibes all over it that. Sadly complete break needed from City, if CFG role make sure he’s a long way from Manchester.

Was chatting to a few Chelsea lads on Saturday on train about Enzo Maresca. They were saying when pressure hits he can get a bit negative, he`s not really Manchester City standard either.
We always hear the club goes for the very best, and if that’s the case then surely Luis Enrique has to be someone we at least speak to. For me he’s the standout option. Maresca thats a serious drop off

Sorry if that offends. I thought we were all of the opinion on here that our centurions season was more of an achievement that arsenal's invincibles season. If looking at an "unbeaten run" uncritically without taking into account the below par performances and inadequate points return makes me a knob then so be it.
The problem is your looking at the bad points without taking into consideration that akin we've had a lot of injuries but mostly are in a transitional period. Few, if any, other club has it would win two major trophies and finish second in such circumstances.

Maybe we're just sick of people whinging and criticising instead of recognising our achievements for what they are.

If this is true, it's huge, and will sew nothing but discordance between the club, fans and new manager (if he comes at all). But if Maresca is signing and it is all with everyone's blessing, this tweet is mental.

Surely saying something like this is very very risky unless the person knows Maresca and co have been playing dirty?
If being the operative word. Who knows for sure what is genuinely going on behind the scenes?

Served with Pep? Was he at war?

He had one season with the first team. Pep said Kolarov was one of the best defenders he's ever worked with. Pep said Nathan Redmond was one of the best wingers...

Forgive me, but I’m going to defer to Pep on the issue of both players and coaches, unless you’ve got a CV to share…

We dont know who they may have spoken to, only Maresca made it know for whatever reason. I cant believe they only spoke to him and if so the others haven't let it be know publicly
