Pep can't control what they eat on their off days but he can control what they eat after the game as it is the most important time for them to eat as our body has a 1 hour window after exercising where our body's metabolism just goes into turbo mode. The basketball player Steve Nash completely cuts out sugar from his diet and was able to play well into his late 30s. Dirk Nowitzki cuts out Pizzas/Junk food as well as alcohol (imagine a German without alcohol for most of the year) during the season and he's performing as good as ever at age 38. And basketball is a more physically taxing sport than football. So I'm baffled why the club or even the players themselves did not address this by themselves before. I mean if you're 21 like Raheem there might be a leeway here and there, but when you're 28 years old and upwards like most of our players, diet is no.1. At that age I would say it's even more important than weight-lifting.
