The new Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has refused to sanction the sale of central defender Pepe, delivering a blow to suitors Manchester City.


City were already resigned to failing to sign him. The situation could offer a reprieve to Joleon Lescott, whose desire to stay at the club is tempered by a need for Premier League starts ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

yea as FI says from the indy article they aren't real deep at CB and the only other backup for them is Albiol who is all well and fine but if they sell Pepe they'd be forced to bring someone in which madrid might not want to do this summer and pepe i'd imagine is looking towards next summer and the lack of playing time next season due to varane being an absolute monster

don't think they'll sell unless they have a replacement lined up and they havent been linked with any afaik

It really does make me wonder if we're actually close to
making any more signings at this moment in time. It all
seems to be idle speculation at the minute, and I thought
the idea would be to have all our signings in place before
these pre season tours started. We don't want another
