Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

'Signing a year's extension only kicks the can down the road'

And by a can, we mean a trophy or trophies.
Unless the uncertainty around his future was the reason why we couldn't attract any top drawer signings this summer.
In which case it's already happening and leaving us vulnerable and arguably weaker.

You dont think pep, cheeky and khaldoon talk to each other ? They are a tight group and they will know exactly what pep is doing . Pep having a rolling contract all these years and it hasnt harmed us , as soon as we lose some games people lose their shit

I do hope that you're not suggesting the top dogs of a multi-billion £ organisation communicate behind the scenes in private and not on socials / media!!! If anything is being discussed between Pep and the bosses, The Daily Mail and Twitter will be their first point of call for sure...

This kind of comment - and many others of its kind since this thread turned mental about a fortnight ago - would have been taken a bit more seriously had they been made last season or in summer or in the early stages of this season when the window had closed.

But they weren’t, they were made because shock horror we lost a couple of games. It happens.

Show a bit of backbone and a bit of faith in the elite coaches and champion players we have at our club.
People were saying it last season. Just not on here.

Players are getting older, the key ones are getting injured a lot more. It happens. We just need to replace them with the right quality

I dont understand this. If he wanted to stay 2 years more why has he not come out and said this and signed the contract? He must appreciate its not good to leave matters like this, plus it also casts some doubt on him wanting to stay.

Negotiations cant be the issue after so long and also in view of his good relationship with Khaldoon.

cheeky is going , the new guy is coming in before so cheeky can show him the ropes , think it was tolmie that said that . Nothing else makes sense , unless cheeky is staying past the end of the season ?

Depends on if you believe ITKs or the club. The official statements of both our club, and Sporting's, say summer. I believe that, until something changes.

Also, it makes no sense that he comes in January, two directors of football at the club for 6 months? Don't see that. A two week overlap, perhaps, but not half a season.

Fair points

They weren’t saying it at the match pal or in the pubs and bars.

The only real complaint I heard all last season was why the fuck couldn’t the silly cunts have turned up sober for the cup final
There are alot of fans. We were great at home. People were saying it where we sit. Like I said it has been on the cards. We didn't play well when Rodri was injured. Thankfully we got over the line.

It is what it is. I know for sure Pep and the execs are not daft and will know what needs to be done. Txiki said it himself, its time for a fresh set of eyes. The recruitment bar Gvardiol has been mediocre. Ive just had 8 years of the best football i have ever seen us play. Pep needs the right team and we can go again.

Regardless of the timing he's actually making some valid points regarding our recent recruitment.

Also some of us were making the same points in the summer (and inevitably being slaughtered) especially when we questioned if the uncertainty was preventing potential new signings from joining the club

However it's not a binary debate so thinking that we're entering a transitional period doesn't necessarily equate to doom and gloom.
