Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Regardless of the timing he's actually making some valid points regarding our recent recruitment.

Also some of us were making the same points in the summer (and inevitably being slaughtered) especially when we questioned if the uncertainty was preventing potential new signings from joining the club

However it's not a binary debate so thinking that we're entering a transitional period doesn't necessarily equate to doom and gloom.

Valid or not, I think it is quite naive to link the two with losing a few games, in the manner in which we did, at this point in the season and given the context.

Last season I think it was and when the pl said they where going nuclear on City pep was sat in his pre match interview and said out loud I’m going nowhere. And didn’t say even if(and a big if) we are found to have been a bit creative with our accounts it won’t make any difference to me. Well I think that’s how it came over to me anyway.

The only way that I can see a 1 year extension being a negative is if we lose out on the person we want to replace Pep with.
Thought I’d read from TH that Pep would go if Alonso said Yes and agreed to come next summer, otherwise stay another year if needed. (Not 100% sure if he was stating it as knowledge or a wish though!)

Depends on if you believe ITKs or the club. The official statements of both our club, and Sporting's, say summer. I believe that, until something changes.

Also, it makes no sense that he comes in January, two directors of football at the club for 6 months? Don't see that. A two week overlap, perhaps, but not half a season.
The City statement said he begins his full time role in the summer but will collaborate with Txiki in the preceding months to ensure a smooth transition.
