Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I don't think you can blame everything on Bravo though. If anything I think we have seen how small the difference between success and failure is when trying to play Pep-football.

Indeed, the biggest difference between West Ham and Everton was that we didn't take our chances and it made our lot unsettled. Lets not forget West Ham missed an open goal, and who knows how they'd have reacted to scoring that as opposed to going 2-0 down seconds later.

If we put away our chances, Everton would have been 3-0 down and thinking about the showers before Lukaku's goal goes in, and our defenders would have been playing with confidence instead of becoming increasingly nervous.

Thoughts if he doesn't finish top 4? I respect the man but if we end up finishing something ridiculous like 6th I'm not sure he deserves an extension? I expect to be castrated for saying that but hey ho
We'll win the CL, finish 5th and dump the rags into the Europa.

:)

Too early to say if this is good news or bad.

I am prepared to give Pep the benefit of the doubt as he has been to a large extent hamstrung with some truly appalling team building by his friend Txiki. I am truly amazed at how Txiki has allowed the FB position to remain as it is. The ageing midfield also has been overlooked.

I would however like to know what Pep's views on last summer's transfer window were. The Nolito transfer is confusing as it was said he was a Pep type, yet he hardly gets a look in. Sane is young but has shown enough to surely get more game time.

As for Pep himself. I think we need to be realistic. Soriano and Txiki sold him to Mansoor as the best manager in the world. Why else would we put the club on hold for 3 years. To my mind he clearly isn't. The three CL semi final humiliations in their in own way highlighted his flaws just as the endless poor european nights highlighted Mancini's.

One thing you could say about Mancini is he seemed to fit the club. We were serial bottlers before he arrived but the way we took United apart at OT showed he didn't give a fuck how many titles Ferguson had won. His arrogance was no doubt part of that. Great manager no way. Right man at the right time definitely.

It is difficult to read Pep's emotions at the moment. Is he bored, stressed, bewildered. Obviously he is a way better coach than the previous two men at the helm. That does not necessarily mean he is a better fit. A lot will depend on his own attitude to the job. Is he hungry?

To have one of the elite coaches at the club for the next four seasons or whatever would be a major plus. We do have the money to back him.

Hopefully Pep will be a better judge of outfield players than he is goalkeepers!

But the problem is you could say the same thing about the home games against the blue dippers, saints, boro and chavs.
When it's a one off you can claim bad luck, rub of the green etc.
When it becomes a pattern then that is indicative of a more fundamental problem with the team.
And boy do we have one at the moment.

I agree, but having said that I am starting to doubt that Bravo will come good. It would be really nice to have a keeper who would actually make a save every now and and then. I know it is unfair, but at the moment I have the feeling that every bloody shot on target is a goal. If he never makes a save we could also just put a 11th field player in goal.

I have the same feeling.
Dippers came away with a hard earned draw at the swamp. When they were one up their defense came under the cosh and were struggling ( like us) but Mignolet pulled off two great saves to preserve their lead.
Had that been us I can't help thinking that we would have gone 2-1 down and probably game over.
