Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I thought he was going to Juventus ? last season !

wasn't that the rumour ? with impeccable sources.

such crap being floated around.

Maybe he is actually being honest when he says at the end of next season if it's still a good fit for him and the club he extends.
Did the click bait journos think of that possibility and actually report what he said, instead of fantasising between the lines.

Ornstein has been peddling the ‘my source says Pep is leaving at the end of this season’ for a few weeks now. Sounds like it’s complete bollox and click bait nonsense from the Athletic.

And yet he also wrote the article today about him staying on if he gets some signings.

Don't think he, or anyone, has a clue.

To be fair we have dropped bollocks, stones not good enough in my opinion a lot of money spunked on an average player, bravo never a number 1 keeper, Kompany never signed a replacement, aguero natural finisher, no back up in place if he is injured, and don't say Jesus as they are completely different players, if we are so savvy why is our best ball.winning midfield player playing centre half
To be fair replacements for Kompany, Aguero, D Silva, Sane, Yaya, Zaba are not exactly knocking on our door and priced within the boundaries of FFP, especially at anything like a reasonable price. What would any of them have cost when at their peak. Should we buy the currently most expensive players in each of those positions, it won't guarantee anything, they may get injured like Mendy or Stones or Laporte, or turn out to be 1 or 2 season wonders being replaced as media darlings by another Haaland with multi million buy out clauses and long term contracts hastily attached after a few CL appearances. Fernandinho's birth cert. and the loss of defensive experience is a clue to his move, he cannot play 60 games in CM and every time he has to be rested the rhythm is upset again so maybe they decided he could do a job at CB and help Rodri on the pitch. A natural finisher like Aguero, who is brilliant but has always missed a lot of relatively easy chances would cost up to 200 million and even that wouldn't buy a young proven striker with his goals per game ratio. Also any proven player of their quality will want almost guaranteed weekly pitch time and competing at our level that is not feasible unless like now we have an injury crisis. Bravo was in the Copa America team of the tournament & keeper of the tournament in 2015 & 2016 with Chile and has a list of honours with Barcelona so he was not some unknown hopeful when signed and many keepers' of his experience would not be prepared to sit on the bench week after week so he was I think a very reasonable signing, especially with his knack of saving Liverpool penalties. What you say is valid but I think is the empty half of the glass when our current status puts it in perspective.

I think City and Pep will review in the Summer.

I agree and I don't think the answer is known yet. But in the summer I think EITHER Pep will extend his contract, bring in a new number 2 and revamp the squad OR Pep will leave.

It's been said on here that as a well run club we plan 18 months in advance. Reviewing in the summer would effectively be planning a year in advance with the leeway given because it's Pep and what he's done.

I don't think there's any way, though, that we'd get into a situation where Pep's just got a few months left on his contract with all the uncertainty and drift that can bring

Get what you are saying but vvd we could have signed him but we spunked massive money on John stones who in my opinion is a very average cb, the fact our best ball winning midfielder starts over him gives you a clue, and as for strikers we have been massively short for years, we had aguero, dzeko, and nothing after until Jesus, we have never had 3 great strikers to pick from, was not that long ago we were that short up front we were playing fucking Milner there, we have dropped massive bollocks with some signings, and I don't think we signed well and have not planned for the future well

And not sure if I am wrong but we still have aguero, Silva and Sane
