Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Genuinely intrigued, what's the new contract for?

We don't know if it'll work out for him here, and he's not exactly earnt his corn. Do we just give contracts out for laughs now?

I've doffed my tin hat already, but he's not exactly negotiating with any other clubs with 2.5 years on his current deal still to run.

Ignore all of the media and opposition fans views on Pep for a moment and look at the facts.

He inherited a squad that most fans agreed was on its last legs last season. He hasn't been fully backed in the transfer window, ignore the fees and focus on the here an now. Stones, Nolito and Sane are not improvements on what we already have. Bravo replacing Joe has looked like an extremely poor move and the only genuine quality we signed is out for the long-term.

The squad he took over was rightly the 4th best in the PL last season. That wasn't by luck it was an accurate assessment of the side. Then consider that United, the side we finished level on points with, added three genuine top players to their ranks then its not hard to fathom why we are in this position.

There have been plenty of positives so far this season, but the squad is still showing the same weaknesses it has for the past 2 and a half seasons. That is because of the players and nothing else.

Next season is the rebuild. The money is available and a ridiculous amount of money will be off the wage bill. The deadwood will be gone and the foundations will be put in place for the foreseeable future. Why wouldn't we want Pep to commit to managing that?

I know its an acid dream, but imagine their faces if we won the treble and bravo kept a clean sheet in every game from now on...
Ballinio's face would fall as low as his respect for our manager...
"Honestly, im really happy"
*sobs

The thing is, it wouldn't. They'd just rewrite history and pretend they didn't want him out, same as the journalists and pundits calling him a fraud.

Spot on pal

Pardew and Holloway may be to progressive for us, I'm thinking old school, how about El Tel the Spanish speaking lads would love him and he sings like Robbie Williams dad....everyone's a winner

Smart choice, but why settle for one? We could go for all Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in quick succession! Men who know how to spend money and took Leeds to places they'd never been before, O'Leary, Venables, Reid and Gray.

How did it get to that though. After the investment made?

Players getting older and slower?

Just how life is unfortunately.

That and the fact they are on contracts.

Please dont ask me for a source ;-)
