Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

After our less than great start, where we were lucky against Wolves, capitulated defensively against Leicester, and could have lost on another day to Leeds. The games dont get any easier.

First up after the international break is Arsenal at home on the 14th,followed by away games at West Ham, who are on a bit of a roll, and Sheffield United. Then Liverpool at home, and Spurs away.

We need to improve significantly.

I know it is a bit early in the season for calling it a defining period of games.

But after our season start, i really think it is.

We could hit form, beat Liverpool get a few decent results, and be right back in the mix.

Or we could struggle in them, and get absolutely twatted by Liverpool.

And he walks,or is pushed before the end of November.

If we do not make top 4 then he will not and neither will he be offered.

Looks like a high probability the way we seem to be ready to play games only for 45min and Pep appearing clueless on sidelines.

I would like Pep to stay but if we're gonna let him go, just sack him now rather than watch this train wreck for a season. Better to let another manager salvage the season and get us a top 4 atleast.

I think this is his last season. He always said he would stay for as long as he felt he was getting the best out of the squad and his comments this season indicate he thinks he isn't. For those that have worked for super intense genius bosses, it has a finite life. They either burn out or their team burns out. Even this season, when we play like we did for the first 25 minutes yesterday, it is an absolute joy to watch and nobody else comes close. That we managed to maintain that over 2 seasons is crazy. In a way, he was fortunate to inherit an amazing spine to the team. Vinnie, Fern, David and Kun and he augmented that by improving other players like Kev, Eddie, Kyle, Phil, Raz and Gabby. He also took good but not great players and turned them into well oil parts of an amazing machine. I'm thinking Delph, Otamendi, Zinc for a while. He will leave a legacy and I will always think of him as our best ever Coach.

Hard act to follow. I really don't know who I would like.I do know who I wouldn't want anywhere near our club (Rodgers, Klopp, Maureen). I would love at some point Vinnie to return once he has learned the ropes but it remains to be seen that he will make it as a top flight coach.
I really don't know what decision is the right one but I think your post is close to what is happening atm. I saw a Bayern player being interviewed and he was praising Pep to high heaven for improving his game in all sorts of ways but said towards the end Pep and the players were exhausted and no matter how much they tried they couldn't get back to how they had been playing. I wonder if there is no villain in the situation we find ourselves in because we know what our players can do and we know what Pep can do it may just be that the standards we set for two seasons are unreachable again and that is putting a downer on everyone involved. I admit I don't know shit about whats really going on it could be a slump and we will bounce back and and we'll all look stupid for worrying but something just feels wrong at the moment. I think laying blame on certain players or Pep is a waste it feels as if it might be a more collective problem.

Assuming plan b is not just lump it up top when looking for a goal, pep does sometimes adjust to the opposition (plan b) and is accused of overthinking or changing unnecessarily if it goes wrong.
Of course Plan B does not assume that. We dont play that way. What we dont do however is manage games, adapt to changes in formations against us or make substitutions that would address problems until it is too late.

Problem is if players really not trusting blindly his methods, tactics anymore then him getting a new contract could result in trouble...
