Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Easy for me Tolm, we have teams around the world to sack him off 2

Take Angelino back & send Mendy packing on loan if anything
Not sure what happened but anybody who failed to see that Angelino was not vastly superior to Mendy (including pre injury) knows very little about nurturing talent. I don't think this is necessarily Pep's fault. We have started to lose our way lately hopefully things will change.

Very confused by the Rodri thing mate. He's started more minutes than ANYONE outfield this season. Was basically ever present last season too. Surely if Pep doesn't rate him we'd not be playing him every week?
Who else do you play there then? A tired 35 year old Ferna? Doyle? Since we are continuing with double pivot means that Gundogan will start, so the options for the other DM spot are Rodri, Ferna and Doyle.

Well, tbh, yes - i'd rotate him more if I wasn't keen. He plays literally every game. You're also presuming I want a double pivot. Totally fine with Gundogan at the six on his own, given we were excellent with him there at times in recent history. Perhaps with an inverted FB to help in midfield.

There is a purge coming. Rodri, Mahrez, Mendy and Bernardo are goners next summer.

A decision on Sergio won't be made until next May.

Pep wants to rip it up and start again, with the full support of Khaldoon.

There is a train of thought that only Mendy will be difficult to do some proper horse-trading on.
Why not just plan for the next season from now? We will probably get top 4, so why not just start playing Foden and Torres more consistently?

Problem is if Txiki will choose to to bring in what is the guarantee they would be better than Mahrez, Mendy, Bernardo etc?

He scouted/signed most of the squad by now.

For every good signing he also signs 2-3 expensive players who are not improving the first eleven and extremely hard to move them on due to price/salary.

But mentality and hunger of the squad is the real issue.

I would absolutely keep Rodri unless we need the cash. Dinho is going, sign Zakaria, make him first choice. Rodri has his uses in the squad, he is a world class anchor man and will be incredibly useful when used correctly.

Bernardo on the other hand may need to move for his own sake. I desperately want him to succeed but I also don't want him to waste away here. He could go to Barca or Juve and be fantastic. Don't really want Grealish though, another 'midfielder' who hasn't shown he can even play midfield and he would cost stupid money. We already have 4 home grown players, sign Auoar or the lad from Valencia, Lee Kang-In, who we've been linked with a lot.

Mahrez should be gone this summer regardless, he's 30 and only going to get worse.

Aguero I would keep if we needed him for Messi, otherwise I'd throw whatever it takes at Dortmund for Haaland.

Mendy will probably end up staying, nobody will give us anything for him so Zinchenko may be easier to shift. Alaba on a free would be nice if he wants to play with Messi...

I would also shift Cancelo if possible and sign Lamptey from Brighton.
