Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Until we start aggressively pursuing top players like we did with toure, Silva, aguero etc paying whatever it takes to get it done we will continue to stagnate. Fuck what people think about us if pep thinks haaland is the answer then just pay it. If we don’t somebody else will. sick of collecting a load of average players for £40-£60 mil.

also sign some players with personality with some passion some drive leadership qualities hungry to achieve etc. Dias being a good example

Leroy is having the same application issues he had at City and his time at the club has been a little bit romanticised. He was awful against parked buses but great when there was loads of space to run into. It's also worth remembering/noting that we managed to garner 98 points in 18/19 using inverted wingers.

The funny thing is a lot of what you seem to be stating categorically doesn't work, has categorically worked for Pep and this team. I agree that we need a couple of attacking players a left back and another centre midfield player. I imagine that's what Pep will end up getting too.

To go back to the beginning, 'ideological shortfall' is a nice soundbite but it doesn't actually make sense when you analyse the players and the performances. Ultimately we've been poor because the players have been poor both collectively and individually in the last 12/14 months and the squad is in transition. Guardiola isn't blameless in any of that, but he isn't the root cause of all our issues either and he's by some distance the most likely coach to fix them.

Just to be devils advocate, from a lot of what I'm reading on here, there's a sense that Pep is finished at City. If that is the case then we should sink like a stone in the league the way that Mourinho's Chelsea did in his last season or Poch's Spurs did. Personally I don't think that's going to happen, but if the doom mongering is correct then maybe it will.

I think the doom mongers like me want you and Pep to be right. We dearly want him to stay and turn it around if he can.

I just cant see it with the way he`s got our team performing.

I would absolutely keep Rodri unless we need the cash. Dinho is going, sign Zakaria, make him first choice. Rodri has his uses in the squad, he is a world class anchor man and will be incredibly useful when used correctly.

Bernardo on the other hand may need to move for his own sake. I desperately want him to succeed but I also don't want him to waste away here. He could go to Barca or Juve and be fantastic. Don't really want Grealish though, another 'midfielder' who hasn't shown he can even play midfield and he would cost stupid money. We already have 4 home grown players, sign Auoar or the lad from Valencia, Lee Kang-In, who we've been linked with a lot.

Mahrez should be gone this summer regardless, he's 30 and only going to get worse.

Aguero I would keep if we needed him for Messi, otherwise I'd throw whatever it takes at Dortmund for Haaland.

Mendy will probably end up staying, nobody will give us anything for him so Zinchenko may be easier to shift. Alaba on a free would be nice if he wants to play with Messi...

I would also shift Cancelo if possible and sign Lamptey from Brighton.
Rodri is a decent player and would look even better in Spain or Italy. But he's the wrong player for City and the wrong player for Premier League. Way too slow, way too passive, way too flaky to survive being pressed hard.
“World Class” though???!!!!!!!! Are you really sure about that??

There is a purge coming. Rodri, Mahrez, Mendy and Bernardo are goners next summer.

A decision on Sergio won't be made until next May.

Pep wants to rip it up and start again, with the full support of Khaldoon.

There is a train of thought that only Mendy will be difficult to do some proper horse-trading on.

Is there a purge in the sense that everyone is for sale with the exception of a few I.E De Bruyne, Foden, or are we trying to just clear out deadwood?

Rodri - Doesn’t fit
Mendy - Pure shite
Mahrez- See Mendy
Bernardo - Would be sad to see him go but let’s be honest, he’s done fuck all for coming on two years now.

What is concerning is all them are Pep signings, almost £250m worth of players deemed surplus, if believed.

I would be so sad to see Bernardo leave. Absolutely love the guy. His confidence is at an all time low, and it shows. Been poor for quite a long time, but like Stones I definitely feel he is able to reach his top level again. Definitely agree with passing Mahrez on. Rodri is a good footballer but just doesn’t fit here. Barca would probably take him, they need a Busquets replacement. Mendy could be a decent backup, but realistically never a first choice LB after all his injuries

For the right price,i don't think id have a big problem with all but a couple of our players being up for sale.
The team needs reinvigorating,i'm happy with our centre halves but, otherwise,i dont think anyone is essential to the way we play.......a new spine,in terms of midfield and attack,is the definitely the priority.
