Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Well it seems nailed on that Alonso is going to Madrid according to Spanish press, so surely he
must be next choice ,not really anyone else of his quality.
I dont believe in the Spanish propaganda machine after we were told to knight Vinicius poser.Wasnt our Erl goin there? they won the battle for Bellend which I'm retrospectively glad over but showed their arrogance I'm spades Monday night.

I really rate him too. Signed a 5 year contract in the summer so wouldn’t be cheap.

But I’d like to think we’re gonna start spending big again when the 115 shit is done and dusted and we’ve torn the PL a new one, again.
We don't need to 'spend big', we need to invest wisely in young, elite talent of the right character,of which there is a limited number.

A successor for Kev, Kyle,Gundog, another striker and possibly a wild card for the bench.

We have the funds but they have to be invested well.

I agree with you mate on what is required and the criteria… but to achieve it we will have to spend big.

Only signed a 2 1/2 year contract which is telling
Not saying he would come to us but would certainly go to Madrid or Barca if he did well
Strange two and a half year contract. If he does well, I can't see him going to RM or Barca, but if we continue doing fantastically well, the best any other Prem club can hope for is to do moderately well. We are about to go through a transitional phase - time doesn't allow our legends to remain a permanent 27 years old. Players can remain unbelievable into their thirties at our club thanks to our god of a coach, but the injuries take longer to recover from. If we lift the Prem this season it will be our greatest ever title win - given the injuries, the fact that at the EUROs our players went deep into the tournament and the number of games played last season.

I think Utd have dropped lucky with Amorim. He'd been on our radar for a while and Pep's situation becomes ever more important as a result. He'll be expected to dislodge the Tarquins and scousers pretty quickly. Go on Pep - stay a few more years.
I thought City had come out with a statement to the effect that they have not been interested in Amorim & furthermore, both Dippers & West Ham looked at him but turned him down??

City came out with no statements.

I think he was on our radar, but his style is not really akin to Pep's - he's more of a Maureen tactically - low block against the better sides, and we lost interest. We don't do low blocks (not in our chemistry) - no matter how many attacking superstars we have to face.

Amorin was never mentioned linked with us until their director of football was coming , then all the amateur experts put 2 & 2 together to asume he would come here.

He spoke to west ham, but they wouldn't pay the release fee as sulivan a skinflint and liverpool, though linked opted for slot.

Not that it matters as the rag press will claim he rejected them and us.

I don't think this appointment has any bearing on Peps contract to get back on topic, but I think he will extend

Probably thinking about all the reports from “sources” saying we weren’t interested because of his style of play such as:

But per reporter Ben Jacobs, Man City viewed Amorim as a poor fit stylistically for the foundations Guardiola has laid.

Taking to X, Jacobs wrote: “Understand there was never any genuine Man City interest or approach. City want Pep Guardiola to stay and despite the arrival of Hugo Viana, don’t view Amorim as a stylistic fit despite respect for his success at Sporting.”

Pep letting it slip in the embargoed press conference?

Asked if next season he'd want a bigger squad given the injuries he says yes if he knows we're going to have 7 or 8 injuries, he'll ask for more players.

Now that may be a pinch of pep irony, but he certainly didn't say anything about not speaking about next season.

He needs to sign for 2 years or go.

This team is close to its end & it’s been an incredible journey but business is business

I hope he signs for 3 years and builds us a new team before leaving us
2 years is the best you can hope for.

Pep can only work with what he’s got, Txiki has failed to improve the midfield situation year on year.
