Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Any chance Pep leaves anyway after this season, or during it
Is anyone starting to fear
I think he’ll be relishing this challenge as much as he does the final day title deciders.

Plus this is where he’ll see what minerals our players really do have and who’s going to be with us long term. He’ll have sussed out the weak and those who are not going to offer us anything further.
That will get him excited for a rebuild of the squad.

The only think he can be questioned on is recuitements or lack and quality of them.

I would imagine he has a huge say on that and rightly so.

A huge mistake to go into this season and have a small squad and a squad that had clearly aged too much and that was fatigued.

The lack of serious movement in the last window was utterly bizarre, I may be controversial here, but the title win last season was for me slightly fortunate and without doubt would not have happened without the loss to Real.

Last season we looked poor for so long, so the decision to go with basically the same players minus Alvarez who had scored and produced very good numbers was very weird.

I wouldn't put that blame on his shoulders. He's part of the group that discuss transfers, we've seen that in the documentaries. But he's not responsible for making them happen. He doesn't stand in the way of players who want to leave, but it feels very much a club strategy to have not invested as heavily as we needed to.

You're right though. Last season, with a couple more additions we could have won the treble again. We were a shootout away from beating Real, but Haaland and De Bruyne had to come off as they were dead on their feet and we didn't have the quality to come on and finish that game off. Despite having the ball for the majority of the game, we looked just as fatigued as Real who were chasing it. We needed to do more in the market, but I'm sure Pep would have wanted some additional players.

The club won't panic though. They want the right players at the right price. Even if it means a season where we struggle. They won't invest just for the sake of it, and we can't accept second or third best any more.

"The club won't panic though."

Maybe not panic but for the first time they are under pressure, probably no CL and a huge rebuild needed. 115 verdict not far down the road etc

A new Football CEO and he is going to be under pressure from day one, if we get the next two transfer windows wrong we will be in transition for some time in my humble.

Maybe we do have a jet out of jail card in the Club World Cup, 50m for that may well be supplementing no CL.

Looking at the amount of money we've generated from player sales in the summer and assuming we get a favourable decision in the PL case against us - removing any need to shell out compensation - then I'd have thought we'd be in a position to spend hundreds of millions over the next couple of windows even if we don't finish top 4 this season and regardless of the CWC money we'll be getting.

Very true but don't underestimate the pull of playing CL, that could be a deal breaker for the elite players like Wirtz, Musiala etc
