Pep's contract situation

Yea Bournemouth deserved it, sorry wasn't denying that. More that even with this crooked old degenerate squad and a direcrionless non-committal manager, a couple of margins going in our favour could have seen us win that game.

There are games like that every single season.

People have short memories. Pretty much season has games we just scraped through and losses against teams we should beat. That's football

Knowing how we finish seasons, I'm more than OK with where are right now.

Rodri is a huge miss but he hasn't played a full game for us in the league this season and we're in a very good position still and lost once. People should calm down a bit. We'll be OK, especially once we get some players back.

And if we don't happen to win the league for the first time in 5 years then it'll just make the next one more enjoyable.

That's fine and most people, including myself would probably agree with you
However this thread isn't about our current league position or prospects for the season. It's not even about the Bournemouth defeat, albeit our recent results have camouflaged some sterile performances.

It's about Pep's future plans and the sense that it will coincide with a number of players leaving. the club

You might argue that they're mutually exclusive, but then again, some people were saying the same thing during Pellegrini's last season when the performance levels dropped and City almost failed to qualify for the CL.

What's that Amorim on about, he did consider joining City?
When, and does he know more than us about when Pep is going or is it just red scum media propaganda

Guess what? We have one and cost us £85m!

Have Josko is his natural and move Ake back to left back.
his position here isn't that much different to the LCB in the back 3 at RB or Dinamo tbf, given our shape, just higher up with our line.

Still very natural to him, probably played more then in a back four CB

Which only makes it bizarre. Rated the best young centre-back in the world and why he was valued what he was.

I can see both sides.

Dias, Akanji and Stones have been more than good enough at the middle.

Gvardiol, after a slow start, is now doing absolutely brilliantly on the left. With the amount of goals he's also scoring, it seems it's working quite well.

I feel like our real issues are more in midfield, wide players who don't score many goals, and potentially the right hand side of the defence as it feels like Walker is now approaching (or is past...) a sell by date.

If and a big if, we dont get 5 in a row, I can see Pep staying, unless a deal is done already. Pep will not want to bow out a loser. His whole life revolves round football and his intensity consumes him to distraction, nothing else matters during his working days. My opinion, for what it's worth, is he is staying beyond this season.
Thank me later, your welcome.

1000%. To win the big trophies you need to have a very good defence and Ake has proved excellent at LB and Gvardiol could already be regard as top 5 CB in the world if he had the chance to cement that spot. This would also allow him to learn to come into midfield like Stones did and probably be even more dangerous considering how good he dribbles and picks out passes.

It seems a win on all fronts but I doubt this will be given a go this season. But we need to try something to fix up our defence and get our midfield going with all thse injuries.

Maybe Pep doesn't trust Ake to stay fit so he doesn't have confidence to permanently move Josko to CB in case he needs to often switch him back.

There is obviously a reason. Pep is as smart as they come so no doubt he would have run through every option we can think of and many we haven't even thought of.

Be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Also doesn't help that our 2nd and 3rd last midfield signings have been well below average (Philips playing elsewhere and Nunes only trusted on the wings). Then Gundo our last midfield signing hasn't been good so far. We HAVE to get our next midfield signings bang on. Before we were signing young midfielder superstars like KDB, Gundo and Silva and look at our last 3. No idea who's fault this is but we need to scout much better in this position.
