Pep's contract situation

This number two we appointed doesn't inspire much confidence, just seems to sit there hardly showing any emotion at all. Pep still seems to turn to the bigger guy with the near bald head for advice.

A series of factors mainly off the pitch including the human aspects of covid isolation, shit weather and grief have contributed to a malaise that is reflected on the pitch. The trip to Leeds where even Bielsa has only signed a one year deal will be interesting. I hope Pep still wants to stay but for a host of reasons i would be surprised if he really does.

I do wonder if our time in the Sun is done. How could you not because this performance comes on the back of last season when City's defence was wide open, and we've still not shut the door. In fact it's getting worse.

teams have ups and downs but is Pep ready for this? We've got a rebuilding job here.

This is a statement of fact and not a surrender. Just realising that City have got a job on here.

The players were crap but don’t forget we have a lot of injuries. If that was the first team I could see your point. I just want us to get back to sucking teams when they press the defence with competent defenders and Eddie passing the ball into midfield and kev and foden to knock the ball into space on both flanks for a tap in goal. We have lost our way. I don’t recognise Peps team. Where did that team and football philosophy go?

We need to stop being nice and get angry.

The rebuilding job has been in progress since last season and can't be done over just 1 season.

Today everything conspired against us, injuries, fatigue (no preseason), soft pens, Leicester very clinical...

Actually, we are suposed to play with a very different back 4, have Bernardo and Jesus/Aguero back, get fit and have more energy. Liverpool were crap against Leeds despite having several friendlies before that. It's a bit early for conclusions, imo.

I'm inclined to agree and I'm normally a very hopeful and optimistic type . This must be just a very bad day at the office given the injuries etc but
if it doesn't get back to normal within the next 4 -5 weeks or we suffer another big defeat like that ,we will be looking at someone else. That is the stark reality . Pep will hopefully find that reserve from within.

Kompany would be the only man who could do the job.

Never seen him get off the chair, Starting to think he actually might need an operation to get him off it. Looks really disinterested.

Do you think he'll sign a new contract then?
50/50. I think he is genuinely unsure whether the players are receptive. No point extending if he's lost the dressing room.

I think today was a bit of a fluke but I am getting rather sick of watching City concede soft goals. And I am beginning to think City's time in the Sun maybe coming to an end. Pepjoined us when he was worshipped and built a title winning side. Now he needs to do it again when there are doubts.

If he rebuilds this side he will be an undoubted great coach. I hope he takes it as a challenge.

A proper rebuild now means him committing for at least another 3 years including this one, just not sure he has that in him.

A fair assumption -what's the betting its not occurred to the spanish chuckle brothers.

As mad as it sounds given our treble winning season was only two years ago we are in transition. Kompany and Silva are world class players and not easy to replace. We have been hit hard with injuries meaning Mendy is as good as finished at the top level now. Unfortunately our buys are a bit hit and miss. Laporte looks okay, Rodri, Mahrez, Cancelo less so. Ake and Torres remind me of our buys after the 2012 season. Centre half, left back, holding midfield and a striker have been needed for a while now. We haven't addressed it and it caught up with us today big time. You imagine Pep being sold the dream to come here and watching us struggle to get the real top class buys into the club and thinking, what the hell. We aren't winning the league or the champions league this year that's for sure.
