Pep's contract situation

As much as i love Pep, as much as i love the football he has brought to this club, i am kind of swaying towards a fresh start the season after.

If he signs a new deal, then great... we get to witness more brilliant football... but if he doesn't it won't be the end of the world.

Khaldoon and co really need to get to grips with this one and see whether Pep is committed to staying longer. If he isn't, then lets start preparing for life after Pep and lets make it Operation Nagelsmann. There is nothing worse than uncertainty at a football club.
If Pep isn't going to extend his stay beyond this season how do you suggest we prepare for life afterwards? What would Operation Nagelsman look like?

I don’t think anything can be read into the press conference about his future with us. He specifically said he was lucky to be at the club and have such great resources including players at his disposal. He did look very ill tempered but given the predictably weighted and banal questions he refused to feed them material for negative headlines. Eg re Messi he said it is not for me (Pep) to comment on what Lionel thinks - ask Lionel. If he had responded along the lines of “yes it’s disappointing he wanted to come and we wanted him” there would have been negative headlines about preseason planning wrecked by messi deal failure or does this cast doubts over peps future etc. etc. To me Pep was angry at the sheer forking impertinence annd hypocrisy of this media nonsense. He looked visibly annoyed when our no.1 fan Stone opened the proceedings. A big up yours to the press generally.
(at least I comfort myself thinking that because another 3 year cycle under Pep would be my wish)

The last thing i wanted was us going in to this Season with Pep future still up in the air.

And this is what we are going to do by the looks of it.

You just know all the speculation, and uncertainty, will undermine the whole season.

Our first defeat will be the MSM Starter Pistol.

Also why are we haggling over players we need like right now, when we were prepared to spunk £250,000 000 on a 34 year old Messi ?.

Our (UK) press are pure poison. My Father, as an ex-sports journo (with a major National) will be turning in his grave at the current state of his profession - which used to have some honour, credibility and respect.

The question for me is whether Pep's departure would trigger changes elsewhere in the club, with other people leaving.

It's too simplistic to think that people like Begiristain are only there because of Pep, but given how close that group appears to be, there must be a risk of a bigger shake-up happening this season and this may be why the club is happy to delay any decision and not force the issue.

Having just watched the press conference, you've got to say Pep doesn't look happy. As others have noted, he might just have been having a bad day or have other things on his mind, but he looks like someone at the end of a season rather than the start of it.

Why are people so worried about players motivation? Pep last season at bayern and barca was upto standard so I dont think players motivation would be a problem..hope he signs a new contract though

Barca only won the Copa in his final season. That would be equivalent of City winning the FA Cup, which after last season would be underwhelming.

If Pep is leaving it makes sense to keep our powder dry and give the money to his successor.
