Pep's First Training Session - Video

Did you see Toni Duggan and Steph Houghton swooning over Pep?! You can see the charisma oozing from him, no wonder players want to play for him, (imagine if England had a manager like that..... I do try, but all I get is Hodgson face palming, and tearing his hair out as he has a meltdown on the touch line)
Pep is going to get this team purring again
Cue Karen with cats purring gifs.

He's fucking intense, that's for sure.

After our near comatose performances of last season it's a very welcome change.

I think he was trying to get away from players being programmed to follow the ball, and by introducing another changed the direction and the position that players should take up. This helps when it comes to finding space to receive the ball plus works on their fitness away from the gym. I watched a couple of training sessions two years ago and it was just repetition and not very inspiring. Today was just a glimpse that maybe the players will find it more stimulating under a progressive coach - At least that was my take on it ha!
I think I heard him shout 'run the lines' a couple of times. He will have introduced them to his concept of dividing the pitch into different areas and channels. Thought it was brilliant to see him. There were one or two players looking a bit bemused though and not everyone will get what he is trying to achieve.

Same. Apparently it was about positional play
An honest recommendation would be that every bluemooner that wants to understand something about our new managers methods should read 'Pep confidential'. It gives a great insight into what he is trying to achieve in training. An analogy which runs through the book is that he sees football almost as a game of chess, with each player being in their correct space on the pitch depending on the stage of play, defence, transition and attack. Thats what I think he was introducing the players to in the video. The book covers his first year at Bayern and despite the squad they had at the time, it did take those players a few months to 'get' what he was trying to get them to do and execute it consistently.

This is Pellegrini first training session when he took over at City back in 2013 so lets do the comparisons lol.

For me that is more entertaining than half of last season's games. Can't bloody wait for this season to get going!!!

Even in the first season he just about the won the title for us because liverpool fck up big time. I hope Pep can sort the defence out with Pellegrini we was just a mismanage defence unit.
