Pep's Press Conferences - Watford (A) Post Match (Page 129)

Guys please stop dissing our previous managers. And MP of all ppl. He is a very good coach, who has the balls to play attacking football. He did many good things for us. We played some fantastic football, maybe not consistently at a high level. But the bad results dont automatically fall entirely at the coach's feet. Many players had become too big personalities. So they have to take a fair share of the blame too.

In any case, MP is a above average coach. Pep rates him highly. Spain rates him highly. South America rates him highly. However u like to spin it, you cannot bring a club like Villareal with its measly budget & small fan-base to the semi-finals of the Champions League. And he is a classy man. In spain, its a cultural thing to never ever question the coach. So the coach doesnt hv to be the biggest personality in the dressing room. He is respected for his tactical & coaching decisions. Only in England, the players are bigged up to be more powerful than heads of state. And leadership is overhyped in english football. Cant blame MP totally if he expected the same professional behavior from players that he saw in Spain.
Is it not normal for people to talk about the differences between their current boss and their previous boss? Thought this was common in all Walks of life.
The only people I ever see posting about leaving him alone were the ones who were duped by his fraudulent role.
What's happened has happened. You can't change the past, and the future will take care of itself, but I'm pretty sure most are just enjoying the moment

If you listen carefully at the start and end of the last press conference, prior to the EFL game, you can hear (presumably) a Press Officer inform the media at the start that 'we'll do the embargo which is Friday 10:30' at the end. He then announces later that 'we're in the embargo now which is for 10:30 on Friday'. Guardiola still looks as if he is waiting to field more questions as the video ends- it's on page 30 here.

I take it that this means the media are free to ask questions but that any answers cannot be reported until after the set deadline. Doing so indicates that we'll take questions in advance of a particular game but will not be doing press conferences later in the week, in this case I suppose because we've upped sticks and moved to Wales for the week.

Given the inanity of the questioning and the ennui stretched over Guardiola's face, I imagine we'll use the 'embargo' ploy whenever we can.

Could have this all wrong, but that's how I interpret it.

No. Despite entire countries and continents revering him.
