Pep's Press Conferences - Watford (A) Post Match (Page 129)

He looks bereft of ideas and deeply unhappy.

It's like he realises he has been found out tactically in a league that has more than one other decent team.

Don't be too surprised if he's back home by Easter.

Don't be surprised if you are ordering mr kiplings this time next year

I think when he's said he doesn't know why we concede with their first shot it's more a case of he can't believe it like is lot, we need 10 to score, if we actually do, they need 1 and it's just ffs how has that happened, he's exasperated like the rest of us.
As for fault, all 4 goals were scored from Clichy and Stones' side of the pitch, we look woeful on that side and it needs addressing immediately, however kolarov at left back certainly isn't the answer and he actually looks better at CH. I'd go back Bertrand tomorrow at whatever cost, we can't afford to hang about anymore. He shouldn't pick Zab in midfield instead should trust Garcia, as for up front, could Aguero look any less interested??

Before you said all he had to do was ditch Bravo.
My opinion hasn't altered. I think we will concede less if he wasn't our first choice. We would have more stability at the back ! of course, If anyone else continues to underperform then you deal with those players accordingly.

Bravo has got to be replaced ...but only as one element of us rethinking our whole defensive strategy and tactics

How would we have more stability at the back? Did you not see some of the individual mistakes being made in front of him? Clichy is a goal to the opposition the minute he's picked and no one wants to see kolarov at left back, it's no wonder he wants 3 at the back as our fullbacks are shite.

Did you see many of those mistakes when willy played in the cup game ? I thought they looked far more confident in that game. They are nervous wrecks with bravo behind them.

Anyway we have no say, It's up to pep to find the solution. No point everyone on here sniping and getting angry at each other, we all just want to see city doing well at the end of the day.

He probably realises its not worth explaining anything to the press - they turn everything he says and does, against him They want him to fail. I really don't think you need to worry about whether he knows why we are conceding.....

Well i hope he does cause the average fan on the terraces can see it.

And if he can see it why isn't he doing anything about it....the exact same thing happened against the exact same team at our place.....one chance, one goal....how many times have we heard Pep himself say this...so if he can see it why hasn't he stopped it cause the solution isn't that hard either

I think she means if bravo was dropped stones and clichy would be so full of confidence having a willy behind them that they would turn into Maldini and Baresi, seems plausible. It really is that simple. Who'd have thunk it.

what about this year though?????? are we just suppose to forget that... throw it away and just pass it off..........

My problem with this sort of statement however really lies in the fact that he should be doing better with what he has

Wait, our players played well because Willy was in net, and today they were dogshit because Bravo was in net? So for example Clichy gave the ball away because of a lack of confidence in his keeper 40 yards away? you must be psychic to know this.

It'll be Bravos fault when we lose a game he doesn't actually play in.

Clichy has been awful all season, that I put down to Pep as he should have fucked him off and played Angelino, I'd rather watch him learn from mistakes than see Clichy repeating them every week. We have to just take it on the chin this year I'm afraid and hope the recruitment in the summer of fullbacks is priority

Taking this very personal aren't you. Drop him/don't drop him. It's up to pep, he can sell the entire back four if he wants. It's not like I or you or anyone else on here has a say in the matter. I don't even get mad at the results anymore.

I have somewhat given up getting annoyed chuck I just don't like witch hunts on individual players when the whole team and those in charge are to blame, the first one to get binned should be wearing a suit not a football strip

i get what you are saying about clichy but on the flip side, is it clichy that is making himself push as high up the pitch as possible and then not being able to recover and constantly chasing players back towards our goal as there is so much same just to knock a ball into and let the opponent run onto it........NO defender wants to defend one on one all the time....no matter how good they are..even Kompany.....Clichy was at fault (partly of the first goal) but tactically Pep is also responsible...you only have to look at the similarity int he way all the goals are being scored.....and compare that to how teams are defending against us to see how to do it better

Is the solution to give away no chances, ever, then?

It's frustrating that for whatever reason no one can miss against us at the moment (every opponent is suddenly a world class finisher), but Pep is right in what he's saying IMO - we should be scoring more goals given our possession and our players, and when we start doing that we'll win many more times than we lose (or draw). We stop making individual defensive mistakes (or more likely replace those players) that will also help.

For one reason or another we are playing largely with the same team as last year, just another year older. Bravo looks horrific at the moment (not that I think there was anything he could really have done today to change the result) but surely everyone realises he's better than this? We need to support him, the manager and the team through a difficult spell.

The only way Guardiola is leaving is in the case of an absolute catastrophe, and I would hope no City fan is genuinely wishing for that to happen. He's had one transfer window, during which he was assessing the team and we had a disrupted/farcical pre-season. We tried to fix the central defence but for whatever reason that didn't happen (would we ever be this open with Bonucci? No chance) so it's not like he thinks it all good, and Kompany and Gundogan's injuries. while predictable, have not helped.

Today was hellish (well, the second half) but many said we would have some sticky times this season - we can't be even in anger talking about Pep out at this stage, it's fucking ridiculous.

I like that he's not panicking and that he's relaxed. I think he's just as clueless as us on how the future will pan out.
