Peps Targets

Pogba, Gundogan, Stones, Alaba, Chamberlain.

As a package of signings, that instantly takes us up a notch, regardless of obnoxious fan prejudices against Stones & Chamberlain.

Ace in the pack? Pep would be managing them, along with what we already have.

There are no complaints to be had.

Considering the current level of under achievement it is going to be a very interesting summer, it could be the first major overhaul since 2011/12. Since then there have been some decent spends but the core of the team has remained Hart, Kompany, Yaya, Silva, Aguero with the supporting cast varying.

We could see 8 first team players (Willy, Zaba, Kolarov, Mangala, Fernando, Yaya, Navas and Bony) moved in a single window with 7 in and Denayer returning.

We seem to be looking at Pogba, Gundogan, Stones and Chamberlain. That leaves a left back, a right back and a keeper though we would very light in centre forward.

I just don't think that level of player turnover is realistic in a single window, certainly not one affected by the Euros. At least one or two of the incoming big names will be a protracted deal, like KDB, dragging on until after the start of the season. Others will be playing in the Euros and will have hardly any opportunity to take part in a meaningful pre season. There's a huge risk that we start the season short of numbers and fielding a bunch of strangers.

We cant afford a bad start to the season because we've ditched too many players. Even more so if we have to play a CL qualifier.

Depending how our players are priced and how much they want to play, I think some players will be happier to leave this season.

Yaya's agent has already started moaning about Pep, Mangala was almost out the door last summer, Willy will leave as Manuel is leaving, Navas will probably be happy to go home. Bony won't be that hard to sell considering his pre-City record. That leaves Fernando and Kolarov as the hard sells. Don't forget Kolarov was looked out the door in March last season but his form improved hugely up to the end of season. It's hard to see that happening again.

According to City Watch, Pep wants a GK, 2 CBs, 2 Fullbacks, a winger, 2 midfielders and a forward.

Based on who we are regularly linked with:

Handanovic, Stones, Laporte, Alaba, Rodriguez, Sane, Gundogan, Pogba and Higuain.

Now that would be quite the overhaul not to mention it would cost a few bob.
We've not been linked with either. City fans want them, but there are no links. Beside they are both leftbacks. I think by 2 fullbacks he means one on either side.

.............. ...HART..................

DENAYER....KOMPANY...STONES (£45m)....ALABA (£50m)

...............GUNDOGAN (£23m)................

...........POGBA (£80m).......ISCO (£40m)........

DE BRUYNE.....AGUERO.......STERLING...............

Tell me that doesn't set us up for years, and with four domestic/homegrown starters.

By my maths, that 'tweak' comes at a cost circa £235m BEFORE sales and the guaranteed combined money from Dzeko and Jovetic (£27m)

Even if we sell Bony (£15m), Mangala (£15m), Kolarov (£5m), Yaya (£10m), Zabba (£5m), Fernando £6m) Willy (£3m) and Navas (£5m), (at bargain bucket quick deals) - that should be another £65m?

That gives us a net of £143m!

Get the starting eleven right from the off, if we want to push through other deals, make the big decisions on Silva, Nasri and Fernandinho.
Except for switching Laporte for Stones, getting him 10 million cheaper and starying Delph atvleft back and keeping the money on Alaba. The above is my dream team.

Hart
Delph
Denayer
Laporte(30)
Kompany
Gundogan(25)
Pogba(75)
Isco(40)
DeBryune
Sterling
Aguero.

Bench
GK
Clichy
Sagna
Otamendi
Dihno
Silva
Dembele(25)
Kelechi

Grace us with your knowledge oh wise one

Whilst it's pretty obvious sk3ptical doesn't actually have anything concrete to back up his assertions I do tend to agree with his general sentiments. Bayern, having lost their manager to City, will be loathed to sell us a player as well, and certainly one such as Alaba. As far as I'm aware his contract situation isn't going to help us either as he's got a fair while left on it. Bayern are in a strong position here and I don't see them backing down and allowing Guardiola to leave and take one of their best young players with him.
