Do you really think Bayern would sell Alaba for 40 million!? Arsenal sell Chamberlain for 18 million!? And who in their right mind would pay 20 million for Bony!?

in my honest opinion like i said a couple of days ago a big part of this squad has run it course and i don t think even pep can do wonders with them...
I agree. We can cut loose the likes of Demichelis, Kolarov, Navas, Clichy, Sagna, caballero, one of Mangala or Otomendi and maybe even Yaya and bring in 4-5 ready made first team starters, promote some youth and the squad will be capable of challenging on all fronts.

Winter and other journos have said arse arent relly arsed about chamberlain. Bony is a proven goal scorer in the prem and europe and with tv money, west ham can afford to pay close to that. Alaba could push for a move znd bayern already have a replacement lined up. He has 2 years left, so it could happen.

why would Alaba push for a move? I really don't see why Alaba even would leave Bayern. They are probably the 2nd best team in the world at the moment and have realistic cracks at CL year after year, regardless of the manager basically.

At what point does this thread need to be renamed "the football manager/FIFA thread"? A lot of this looks like peoples bloody wishlists and has fuck all to do with Pep's targets or even people we've been linked with

Our priorities this summer should be to replace Yaya, Fernando, Kolarov, Bony & Mangala. And not with squad players.

That would require a net spend of what, £150m? I think that's the most we can expect in one transfer window, particularly one disrupted by the Euros.

Pogba, Gundogan, alaba, sane and Laporte. That would be my dream window.

.... are the rest just heresy ...?

Stone the heretic!!!!

.............. ...HART..................

DENAYER....KOMPANY...STONES (£45m)....ALABA (£50m)

...............GUNDOGAN (£23m)................

...........POGBA (£80m).......ISCO (£40m)........

DE BRUYNE.....AGUERO.......STERLING...............

Tell me that doesn't set us up for years, and with four domestic/homegrown starters.

By my maths, that 'tweak' comes at a cost circa £235m BEFORE sales and the guaranteed combined money from Dzeko and Jovetic (£27m)

Even if we sell Bony (£15m), Mangala (£15m), Kolarov (£5m), Yaya (£10m), Zabba (£5m), Fernando £6m) Willy (£3m) and Navas (£5m), (at bargain bucket quick deals) - that should be another £65m?

That gives us a net of £143m!

Get the starting eleven right from the off, if we want to push through other deals, make the big decisions on Silva, Nasri and Fernandinho.

Yeah, that's the kind of dealings I was talking about. 5 ready made starters as well as bringing Denayer home and the hopeful promotion of a couple of youngsters coupled with cutting adrift the players you mention (bar Zabba, I'd rather we cut Sagna loose and keep Pablo as a back up) and we're in a better shape already, and that's without the huge improvement in management.

Great post Tolm but doesnt it make us weaker on numbers ?

Eight out and 5 in..

With all the injuries we have over the past 2 years, we need a big squad..

We don't need a big squad, we need the right personnel who can 'multi-task' as Pep puts in.

I would argue Pogba and Gundogan are two sides of the same coin when it comes to filling the giant hole left by Yaya? Gundogan can be either/or both the transition and the screen, if needs be.

Pogba simply pushes us over the top, also providing that sheer physical presence and goal threat higher up (which Yaya also did - and really was that good)

Isco replaces Silva in both transition, water carrying, intensity and a quality goal threat in the final third. That allows one of the new additions to be out injured/suspended and Fernandino and Nasri still coming in helping to supplement the midfield?

We must take this leap of faith with some of our younger talents, who can only improve working with the injection of world-class younger players we will be looking to introduce.

The only hole in my workings is we do need another striker, and there are not many tried and tested who would be willing to play second fiddle to Sergio. It sounds crazy, as I do have a hunch he would struggle in his second season, but Vardy could be a decent option.

He has the pace we require and he's also in a rush to make some serious money in the latter stages of his career. Could be an Ian Wright for us, just like how he made the switch from Palace to Arsenal at an older age.

I know plenty have reservations about Stones (I don't) but Laporte for a similar price, and the balance and spend on the team remains the same.

I do think, however, it makes more sense for Stones in a kinda holistic/nice to have another Englishman in there.

Again, that average first-team starting eleven drops to about 23-24.

With Iheanacho ready to push on I think if we add a striker it needs to be somebody than can cover across all 3 forward positions, another multi tasker, I think that's the only way we get somebody of a high enough standard that is going to get enough games to keep them motivated and sharp. Somebody like, though I don't think he's available, Dybala.

As you say, Dybala not available, too much money and still needs to be playing every week, especially in a new league.

Aguero is the pathway to success and also the hurdle to long-term progression. That applies in the immediacy and longer term.

It's why I think Pep will pull something out of the hat, but I think Vardy has shown enough to earn a shot, can run the channels, and would know his place in the grander scheme?

If we are talking somebody who fits the criteria of playing across all front three positions, we could always make a cheeky £90m bid for Bale...a decent bench option ;)

With the exception of Alaba, that line up,as fantastic as it is.......doesnt seem too far fetched.

It's really not, and is far closer to the leaks of an overall £150m spend.

Alaba, admittedly, is an absolute 'hail Mary' on my part- £50m won't be enough for an entrenched Bayern position, having already seen us pay £54m to make De Bruyne the Bundesliga's most-expensive signing ever.

It's a decent suck it and see, though!

I would rather go higher for him and take money away from the Stones transfer. They would take £60m and he makes as much financial sense as Pogba, in terms of spending for the next five years.

It also puts us on a par with Barcelona in my opinion, in terms of realistic Champions League contenders.
