Pesky charity workers

Prone to a few cold callers either in person or via the blower.Calls have dried up somewhat though after a double-glazing guy asked for me and her indoors said "sorry he's dead".

Probably affected my credit rating though.

Does anybody know anyone who actually buys anything off cold callers?
I really don't get it they can't make many sales, if I want double fucking glazing I'll find a double glazing company, if I am not happy with energy supplier I will find the best deal I can for myself!!!

I am also aware that the world is an imperfect place and if I wish to give my money to a charity I will make that choice myself.
Just fuck off and leave me alone!!!

Oh and as for bible bashers.......

Just been having me tea when one of these student types knocked on my gaff, going on about the children. I would normally have closed the door in her face after hearing this, but she looked good so I let her talk.

Anyway, she's going on about sexual exploitation and I'm thinking 'you fucking bet I would you filthy middle class whore', but then the conversation turned sour when she said 'I'm sure you're not gonna miss 2 pound a month'. My teas going cold and that, and here's me thinking we're getting somewhere with all this sexy talk, then she has the cheek to say that. Livid was not the word. I wouldn't mind but she was wearing a scarf FFS!! I felt like saying to her, 'you're telling me to give my money to you, so what? You can buy another scarf? It's almost Spring FFS. If you would have been here in Winter, you'd realise that this is like fucking Tenerife for us. And you're wearing a scarf. I genuinely cannot believe my eyes. So sorry love, but you won't be getting a penny out of me'. I didn't end up saying that, I just politely closed the door. But yeah, what's their problem? All it is with them is money, money, money.

One of the huge Door to Door Fundraising Agencies have recently gone bankrupt and I think one of the street based ones is due to follow. They have an initial success rate in getting people to register for £2 a month (new Supporters are often then targeted to give more via a telephone upsell) but the attrition rate after a year is really high and the Charity will only just break even on it.

It's just a case of simple research to support the right good cause, IMHO. I had an interview at one several years back and naturally browsed the website / annual report to get clued up. Over 90% of their funding was direct from the Government for the services they provide - and they had Charitable status (no VAT paid) because of how they operated. There was no need to donate anything personally because they were doing fine.

i m sick of street charity workers...... i always have to vibe them away. the door to door ones are clowns...... how rude to call around tea time.

great story about "nearly getting laid" though! :(

I honestly do this every time!

When someone comes to the door cold calling, i just repeat what they say really really slowly. The best one was a guy looking for £3.00 a month to sponsor some fucking panda! He lasted a little over 4 minutes!

If that's not a parody thread in waiting then I'll...

You should've donned a pair of spandex tights and asked him for a cage match in revenge for WWE sounding shit.
