Petrov to leave?

If, the story is true then i have to ask why he feels that he is unwanted at City anymore?

Surely the manager has told him in no uncertain terms that he is still a big part of our plans and indeed very much needed. Petrov has been one of the few players that has delivered in the pre-seasons, and looks like he could be getting back to the dangerous left-mid of 2 seasons ago.

If Hughes is relying on a first team only and not taking the issue of 'cover' as serious as having a 1st eleven, then we will fall well short again this season. Players like Petrov are incredibly important to us going forward and if he follows Elano out of the door, it will be a bad days managerial work imo.

And am i missing something with the furore over Robben. Has he stated he wants to come???
In the interview, he said that from what he's seen so far from the pre season, he is not in Manchester City's plans. He also says he will have to talk to the management, and will see what happens.

For me, players like Petrov should not be getting that feeling in the first place.

Its one thing spending ridiculously excessive amounts on some players and making them feel good, but there are a number of players at the club who need to be shown they are loved and needed in other ways. And that process should have started at the end of last season, or before.

Only Garrido to boot out the door and Hughes will have shifted all of Sven's signings and finally got his way in replacing brain with brawn (taking aside Robbie). I am very disappointed about the fact that Petrov has been the only player who has looked to have a clue was he has been doing through the farcical friendlies that have been played during the close season.

I've recently been on the Toffee forum to get their perspective on the possible Lescott Deal. Those Everton lot seem to think £22mil PLUS Petrov for Lescott is a fair deal?????? But they think Petrov will be there as part of a deal or otherwise, as they are crying out for a left winger.

I've even seen a few of those nutters post £30mil PLUS Richards....And they Genuinely believe that it would be a fair deal????

I would personally like to see Petrov stay and fight for his place. And i think he will. I think he just wants reassurances from Hughes he still has a future at City. Which i think he will get. Hughes will explain that "nobody is guaranteed a starting place" and "if you fight and prove your the best, then you will get your chance" Etc, Etc.... I think thats all he needs.

I can't see us letting him leave, Unless he REALLY expresses a desire to go (written transfer request) as we have already let Elano leave. Different position i know but still......

Dunno if this has been posted yet.....

Sport.co.uk understands that Manchester City left winger Martin Petrov will stay at the Eastlands stadium this summer, despite media speculation linking the Bulgarian international with a move to Tottenham Hotspur. Speaking exclusively with Sport.co.uk Editor Nigel Brown, Petrov's agent Wolfgang Voege confirmed he thought the player would stay at least until January, and that Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp had not been in touch regarding the 30 year-old.

Voege told Sport.co.uk: "No, I think he will stay will Manchester City. We have had a few calls from German clubs regarding him, but nothing concrete.

"We will see maybe in the January (transfer window) how he is going. But, as you know the next ten days in football are interesting. However, I think he will stay with City."

When asked if Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp had showed an interest in the player Voege replied:

"No, we have not spoken."

Okay I'll give you that one brawn for brawn on that one, but the question is why is he getting rid of all Svens players considering last seasons debarcle.
