It would be silly to sell Petrov, unless we can get a quality young prospect in to replace him. We need squad depth. So we should just tell him to get to fuck, a la Moyes, and insist he stays.

So one minute we're all chastising Moyes and the next people are saying to emulate him? make your mind up.

We're just doing the best for Manchester City.

In any case, it's not like there'll be offers from clubs wanting to double Petrov's wages and give him a greater chance of silverware, so it's hardly like this is a comparable situation.

I don't think we should sell him just because he's had a whinge to the Bulgarian press.

i dont think you can say he doesnt want to fight for the shirt.
he just did and was our best player..but he wont get a look in.

He's the only orthodox left winger at the club. He offers the side a completely different option. Him and SWP in partnership represent as good a traditional winger pairing as there is in this league.

I can see the reason why he wants to go given his age and the likely number of games he'll get but I hope Hughes can talk him round. He's an asset.

with Bridge overlapping (Who can put in a good cross).

Do me a favor, ive not seen Bridge cross a ball higher than 3 foot of the ground. To be perfectly honest what i have seen of the players Petrov is a better left winger than Robbi. I thought last season was a one off for Robbi and this year would be different, but watching pre season im of the opinion he has no improvement in him. Petrovs form pre season has been excellent, i cant see Hughes letting him go, surely not.

a good player but i understand that he wants to leave to get first team football.

He is never going to get ahead of robinho in the side so if we sell him to a team abroad and bring in a youngster to act as understudy to Robi its a good deal all round.

Who cares how high off the ground a cross is if it finds it's target?

And Robbie isn't a left winger, his natural position is more central, Robbie might not have scored in the pre-season, but he has most definitely improved.

We should always be wary of quotes from players that are away on international duty.

They are generaly badly translated and taken out of context.

If you look at Petrov on the open house video he hardly looks unhappy does he.
