Petrov to leave?

Fuck him off and get the much better and younger Arjen Robben in if he doesn't want to be part of our project. Hate to say it as I have always loved the guy but those who don't want to be at the club and can be replaced should go.

Defo a world class player as he showed at Real last season. But he is surplus to requirements now as well as Sneijder and Van der Vaart. I love dutch players cos they always seem to settle well in England and are work horses. All 3 of the above are world class and Robben is the perfect solution to replace Rigsby.

Not hugely fussed about this. Not on the Elano scale.

If he wants to go he can for me, and I hope he does well elsewhere. Not sure he would figure much for us once we have a fully fit squad to be honest.

Seems a right miserable twat to me. Not done bad for us, but probably not good enough to take us forward.

disappointing hearing this from petrov today. no one wants to be stuck on the bench, but ffs he will still get plenty of game time this season. he wants to knuckle down and fight for his place. i could maybe understand him coming out and saying this in dec/jan after not playing much, but the season hasnt even started yet and he's throwing in the towel.

compare this attitude with craig bellamy. now i reckon he will play about as many games as petrov this coming season. he's only been signed 7 months ago and was a guaranteed starter. now we've spent 50mil on 2 players to (potentially) replace him. he says he wants to fight for his place and finish his career at city. no toys out of the pram defeatest crap.that's the spirit we want at our club and exactly the great attitude hughes knew he was getting when he signed him in jan. maybe petrov needs to take a leaf out of bellamy's book.

he's done easily as much for the team as elano did, despite being injured for nearly all last season. he can appear dour and bad tempered on the pitch, but there are tonnes of photo's of him larking around behind the scenes with a huge grin on his face. he would be a wonderful player to have around this year, a quick, direct, left footed wide player in a squad of right footed forwards would give us great flexibility. Having said that, it's a world cup year, and he is 29, so I cannot hold it against him if he feels he needs to play on a regular basis this season. If he does leave, it's surely with no hard feelings, but I would love him to stay, at least for this season. I'd love to see him and SWP on either side of a midfield 4, with Robbie floating around behind a striker.

Re: martin petrov leaving

Shame, we only paid the ungrateful c**ts wages for a year when he got injured playing for Bulgaria.
