Petrov would have left if Hughes was still in charge

petrov was and has not been a key player.

nice to see some of you still talking bollocks as usual!

so at the expense of either bellamy or robinho you would have petrov in?

i can not believe people are still sniping at hughes just because one player did not like being second or third best.

Perhaps you've not been paying attention, but because of age and injury, those three can and will rotate for one or two positions in the team and all of them would appreciate not having to play every game. This is what a squad is all about!

ANY other club would yearn for those kind of options and it's the manager's job to ensure all are used properly and understand why they are or aren't playing in any particular game. Petrov said as much in his interview ffs!

Or is that also "bollocks"?

Petrov did a professional job every time Hughes played him. I didnt understand Hughes reaction in dropping him every time he played and scored. Just wish Cook and co had binned Les off earlier. Had he been canned in September i reckon we could have potentially been top 3 by now.

Has a smack of Elano revisited.... Just that Elano was before Petrov and probably Petrov learnt a lesson at Elanos expense.

I am so glad that the majority of people on here can now see what was blatantly obvious to some of us for the last year or more.

Happy days.

I think Petrov's kidding himself a bit here. If SWP, Bellamy and Robbie were 100% fit would he be getting game time under Mancini? I doubt he would be getting this much. He's a very good player no doubt but his knee injuries have destroyed his 'bottle' and if he keeps going in half-hearted and backing out of challenges he's going to get seriously hurt again. Also I couldn't give a flying fuck about whether the forward players track back much but it seems odd that Petrov is overlooked for criticism on this but it's used a massive stick to beat Robinho with.

We have problems with our fan base.. seems we get very defensive about a foreigner playing ahead of a brit or a skillful person playing ahead of a grafter... you can support ALL of them and the managers decision!

We need a Petrov or a Robinho in the XI and Bellamy and a SWP. ALL can play, it's just a balancing act as to who plays when.

Bellamy cant physically play every game.
Petrov may not be effective every game.
Robinho may not show up for 50% of away games.
SWP may lose too much possession.

I think Petrov is the sort of player that is magic when all things are going well but.........if your backs are against the wall and you've got to dig in and scrap for a 1-0 win away at the back and beyond, then i can't think of a worse player to have on the pitch. (imo)

Petrov is a great player and an even better squad player.People are correct when they talk about rotating players like Bellers,Robby,Petrov and swp. What team would`nt want those four brilliant players at there disposal and if one is`nt doing it then you can bring another on.However What is plain to see and not just with hughes but Bowen aswell is that they had very little man management skills and may have even had player favourites however well you played.I think it was Bobby Robson who said certain players just need an arm round the shoulder and a bit of reassurance(gazza) where as others need a kick up the backside.I dont think Hughes had this quality in him and thats why he could`nt get the best out of the team all the time.

Shut up Petrov!

The ONE player who has slagged off Hughes!

Dont get me wrong Mancini looks more tactically astute than Hughes but dont be surprised if Petrov doesnt start saying the same thing about Bobby Manc once all our players are fit or weve bought someone new and Petrov doesnt get the run of games he thinks he should!

"I was not getting a chance to play when I deserved to. Mark Hughes never explained why."

Says it all about his man-management skills.

Does it really? It doesn't to me, as I specifically remember a press conference where Hughes said "the reason that Petrov has not been playing much is because he plays the same position as Craig" - I don't think this could be more clear.

Petrov is sulky, and has an over-rated opinion of himself (imo), the only reason he is playing at the minute is because Craig wasn't able to play so many games so quickly, Robbie ain't fit yet and SWP is injured. Otherwise he would still be on the bench. And as we seem to be scoring well and defending well at the mo, he certainly wouldn't be one that you would bring on at the end of a game to help shut up shop so he prob wouldn't be playing now either.

He is not that good on the right, and there are two people better than him on the left. He needs to get off his high horse. I can't remember if it was Wolves or Boro but for about the last 30 mins I assumed he'd been subbed due to his total lack of involvement in the game.

He needs to get over himself, and the dig at Hughes was so pathetic, just my opinion obviously.

But i get the feeling he wont be the only one as time goes on.

More players will benefit and be far happier now they are working under a much more astute and successful manager.
