Phil Foden - 2018/19 Performances

It amazes me that we have the best manager in world football, and yet people still don't trust his judgement.
Foden is in the best club/management situation he will ever find himself in , a loan out to a lesser club and a lesser manager, gives him game time but not access every day to the quality of management and players of exceptional quality that will help him long term . Pep knows what he has in Foden and how he will use him for the future, it just needs a little patience on the supporters part and probably a little bit on Fodens part .

Pep on Foden: "I feel guilty. He deserves to play, he doesn't play. But we had a problem with Sergio Aguero getting injured and we didn't want to take a risk. But he's [Foden] going to play a lot of games this season. Now we start a game every three days - he's going to play."

Think he’ll start the Oxford game and gradually prove himself. Hopefully a sub appearance before then.

With Bernardo imo now being third choice midfield I think there is a decent chance that by the end of the season Foden will take the fourth spot from Gundogan.

I think we've got to get away from the fact that Foden is a youth player. He's a squad member and will get games when the manager judges he's needed.
Pep has played him before in the league. Thirty minutes here and there will just help him bed in, especially with KDB out at the moment

Should have had some time yesterday, he could even have started.

Don't think he'd let us down and with respect him playing in midfield would not have increased Fulham's chances of a result.

I know we had a couple of niggles but even when we brought Gundog on he could have had a run out.

Pep says the right words with regards to youth so I suppose we'll have to see what transpires as the season progresses.

I thought he proved himself in the charity shield all be it a glorified friendly but he is still very young and will get more game time this season than last.

Pep has witnessed and at times played a role in the development of players like Iniesta, Busquets, Xavi and Messi
Here at City we have played witness to the early flourishings of the glorious careers of
Michael Johnson, Stephen Ireland, Vladimir Weiss Micah Richards Ched Evans & Daniel Sturridge.
Pretty obvious we know more than him about how to bring on players.

Yes he was very good there but once he plays 3-4 full games and performs well I believe Pep will be able to justify starting him in a PL game for example.
