Phil Foden signs 6 yr deal (Club confirmed P12)

Awesome news. Made 10 appearances last season and has already made 10 this season. Believe he's the first lad to fully break through since Richards/Sturridge/Johnson?(unless you count Iheanacho) and hopefully shouldn't have to wait so long for the next one.

Nowhere near fully broke through. Hasn't started a league game yet has he? In the next couple of years he will have more than broke through by then. I just hope we all stay grounded and let him develop.

Do you think he will ever be returned to the EDS?

I don't think that's relevant. Brahim's not broken through by any measure, and he's not going back to the EDS.

Lets wait for Phil to start a league game or 10 before declaring he's "fully broken through" like Johnson, Sturridge & Richards.

Going from a couple of league cup games and 3 minute substitution cameos to being a serious, meaningful member of the squad is always going to be the hardest step for every kid who comes through, and although I think he's talented enough, I'm not counting the chickens before they hatch.

Think we should halt negotiations until we have Dean Saunders' backing.

I think its very clear that Fodens City future will be very different to that of Brahim, irrespective of their current appearances. While Foden may not have started a league game,he is very much a first team player now and so i would consider him fully broken through, and that's the point that was being made.

In regards Diaz, its entirely possible he will play for the EDS again.

The idea that any player has fully broken into any club's first team before starting a single league game is completely ridiculous. If Foden left tomorrow, you'd seriously say, "Oh well, we successfully brought him through into the first team!"?

If this were a fan of any other club talking about their youth player you'd be laughing at that sentiment.

The fact he wont be returning to the stiffs or being loaned/sold backs up my point. Its fine/cool to disagree though.

He's been on the verge of signing it since he turned 18 in May. City and Foden have been relaxed over it for a while and it'll get done when it gets done. International week always recycles the dregs.

Even the Sane story, Pep confirmed the talks early last month.

As for currently being on £15k a week, someone better tell Phil!!
