Phil Foden signs 6 yr deal (Club confirmed P12)

Awesome news. Made 10 appearances last season and has already made 10 this season. Believe he's the first lad to fully break through since Richards/Sturridge/Johnson?(unless you count Iheanacho) and hopefully shouldn't have to wait so long for the next one.
Iheanacho certainly broke through far more than Foden has before we sold him. He was starting league games and must have scored about 20 goals for us.

The idea that any player has fully broken into any club's first team before starting a single league game is completely ridiculous. If Foden left tomorrow, you'd seriously say, "Oh well, we successfully brought him through into the first team!"?

If this were a fan of any other club talking about their youth player you'd be laughing at that sentiment.

Every player that comes through an academy has a number of fans hoping that he will become a Star for their Club. However, every so often a genuine and bona fide superstar is unearthed. Pep, himself, is clearly excited by Phil and his undeniable talent. The boy has been receiving plaudits from Coaches and Scouts since he was an 8 year old.

Foden is definitely ALREADY in the 1st team picture at 18 and do remember City's current level! Personally, I believe he will have a fantastic career for both City and England. Yes, we should be patient but his ability and agility should ensure his further prowess. I can be more enthused and hopeful of siccess because Foden is so grounded and focused.

People suggest that it could be 2 or 3 years before he is a regular but I reckon he will be a regular before the end of next season, when I think he will STILL be only 19!!

:)

Foden might not have started a league game yet, but consider just how good he is to be playing regular minutes in THIS particular midfield. At 18 years old. The reality is that it isn't like being at other clubs where he definitely would already be starting - not because City are being poor at bringing him through, but because he'd already be far better than they have.

That's why Rashford broke through at United, not because he was a sensational prospect, but because the alternatives weren't all that crash hot. You have to be really rather special to even get on the field in this City team, that he has at such a young age is indicative of how good a player he already is.

I'm totally relaxed about where he is in his development. He's going to play more and more.

Hes had a few assists and a few minutes for England. Lets not get too carried away just yet, he could end up being the next Marcheda and be at Doncaster in a few years. Hes not in the same league as Sterling, Sane, Mahrez or Bernardo so he probably wasn't going to get many games for the next 3-4 years.
That was his problem, getting games. When Pep decided to take Foden and Diaz to America, and not him, that was it. He was gone

was never in doubt about him signing, he wants to pass the 10 year mark as a legend, he loves city.

I have not seen a young player that has impressed like phil does, this is the first time for 8 years or more that you see a young player and think that guy can break through.

You see the odd young player beefed up as a talent but then realise a few games in that they struggle. He is breaking in to first team gradually, in 18 months he will be regular. You see in him the close control / footwork / passing of both silvas.

Thank god he supports city
